What realistic world cup targets could Norwich go for ?

Recommended Posts

If we were in the premiership this season I could see us making a cheeky bid for Steven Appiah of Ghana but realistically what players from the world cup could we sign ? I think Carlos Edwards could add something to our defence , we could maybe get Tenorio from Ecuador ? I

You would be looking at the less glamorous players from the weaker nations. Pyers who are not big stars and still play in their own country or in lower european leagues, not players who are already in Serie A or la liga.

So therefore players from the likes of Ghana, Costa Rica, tunisia, etc where wages are poor and second tier football in england would be very appealing.

Trinidad do have a squad full of british based players but to be honest only edwards caught my eye, and also birchall of port vale.

Alot  ofthe others were worthy like hard workers who when the pressure is on looked better. i wouldnt be overly impressed with the signings off Brent sancho from Gillingham or Dennis lawrence of wrexham for example.

Most English based players in the world cup play in the prem, but Australia have a few from other places and may be worth a look. Luke Wiltshire of Bristol city looked quite good.

All the top european nations players play in big leagues and so would be out of our reach and gaining work permits for african and american based players would be difficult so dont expect any world cup players unless they are playing in the lower tiers of english football or in scotland. (Basically T&T who dont have much quality)

One who may be available was the swiss right back Djourou (sp) who appeared decent and is current with the gooners.  With Eboue doing well he might be a suitable loan target given Flems age, the reliability of MLJs hamstrings and most fans concerns about Colin...

You are joking if you think we could bid for Stephen Appiah, ex udinese/parma/juve and now fenerbache, i doubt he''d even go to a newly promoted team, FAR too good. If you are looking at the Ghana team someone like Painstil would be more likely
