If a club doesn't want or have to sell a player, then they don't. See Kane, Sarah and countless other examples. He might have wanted to leave but the club did not have to sell him. They didn't the season before and he had his best season with us after a small strop. It was obvious Webber was economical with the truth.

Webber is showing himself to be the self obsessed ego he always was. I am no longer interested in his deluded announcements and look forward to what Knapper has planned instead.

I don't understand why people moan so much about us selling valuable players like the club should be blamed for it when they know full well this is essential for the club's survival . Frustrating as it is, it's just economic reality.

Then say it and don't come up with crxp like the "player wants to leave"... that is irrelevant if the player is contracted to the club.

The OP may well be trolling but there is more than an element of truth in the point he makes in the original post.

Webber used the “he was desperate to leave” line to justify a sale the club needed/wanted to make to fund other transfers. And it shows again how harmful our ownership model was to our prem survival prospects. Meanwhile, the slowest takeover in world history limps on.

At last, someone who is playing the post instead of the poster.

Sorry couldn’t resist, when I know for a fact that a binner is on here telling lies.

Since when is relaying what Webber has just said in an interview telling lies?

Players that do really well and attract attention will want to leave us. We're a stepping stone in their career and they come to us because we're a good place to progress from. If we start resisting players who are adamant that they want to move on then that will deter others from joining us who see us as a way of progressing.

Arguably that in itself is a vicious circle, and one that securing a few years in the Premier League would be key to ending, but it's not a vicious circle that the club can be blamed for. It's just the reality of professional footballers doing what's best for their careers, which will always be their first priority.

Then I really, really wish we didn't loan out goal-scoring Idah for a replacement that's not even fit in the midst of a play-off push.

Buendia would just have refused to play, what would be the point of that ?. I think you might find he played the year before on the basis he left at the end of the season. Don’t know about Kane, but I guess that was a similar agreement ?

I think what some are missing, is that young talent comes to our club, over other clubs, with promises about the future and that they won’t be stopped and held back. The alternative to seeing some of these players for 2 or 3 seasons, would be to not see them at all.

Why would players like Maddison, Buendia, to name but a few, sign for us if there was never a chance of them moving on. Even some of those not so big names, develop enough to play professional football with other clubs, some of those climbing back up the leagues over time.
