Blainsey 2 Posted December 17, 2003 It appears that the general consensus on here is that Svennson is not rated and that it would be a mistake to bring him to Carrow Road.I personally trust worthy 100% and back him to the hilt whoever he signs! I personally do not feel that he has made one bad signing since he took over and I challenge anyone to say otherwise!

Mook 0 Posted December 17, 2003 The important things are - How soon did he act when the bad buys didn''t work out? Very soon. And secondly, how many successes has he signed? I would even count Easton as a success for the work he did for us in the first season. Drury, Holt, Francis, Edworthy, Briggs, Nielsen and the three loanees, Crichton, Rivers when he''s on form (although he goes in the other category when he can''t be bothered). And how many duffers did he rid us of? A LOT! And how many players have flourished under Worthy? Small Paul, Malky, Kenton, Green, probably more. And how well does the squad work together? Very well! gazzathegreat 0 Posted December 17, 2003 this will be a shock to the system, i am going to have to agree with mook!!!!worthy has been brilliant with the players (on the whole) that he has brought inemblem, well it wasn''t worthy''s fault he was injured for most of his stay here - rivers, i still rate him, and would like to see him given another chance, though i guess now a regular place for him is a thing of the past. But drury, holt, edworthy (not 100% sure on francis yet), yes.Neilsen, Easton, good on their day, but not total failuresAs you said mook, his skill is motivating the players we already had, especially mcveigh. And as for bringing in DH, well what can i say, an inspiration to us all! Blainsey 2 Posted December 17, 2003 Thankyou for your support Mook and Gazzathegreat!!It appears that the two of you know your football and know that the players Worthy signed have done well for the club!!
Saint Canary 0 Posted December 17, 2003 I agree that NW has spent all the money he has available well, I remember posting on here a couple of years ago saying how gutted I was he got the the job and also when he pubicly blasted Lee Marshall (is he still at leicester?) and lots of other times BUT I admit I was wrong and he''s done really well for this club, he HAS spent well and as Mook pointed out Mcveigh is a different player under NW. PLUS very importantly unlike any other manager for City I can remember, he seems to have full backing from the board and he seems to be able to get what he wants and influence them rather than sitting back and excepting the whole "No money" situation without ever asking for miracles.I repeat I was wrong about NW and I am very happy about it! Carrow89 186 Posted December 17, 2003 I don''t think there was ever the case of there not being the money. The clubs expenditure of half a million on wages for three months should have demonstrated that. The raising of £15m should also have pointed to a long term strategy of Premiership membership. That would need the team, the stadium and the infrastructure to be be up to it.Both the team and the Stadium were being built. As to the team, borrowing allowed us one - to pay off contracts that would save us money in the long term and two - take on the benefits of having three top players here without the outlay and commitment that tranfers would have meant in Sept. That was the right way. Minimal risk with maximum options.Had we have been midtable by now the plan would have been to quietly let the three slip away and go back to the drawing board. No fear of relegation and little reason to blow everything on a desperate hope of promotionThat was why Worthy has been tracking McKenzie and not moved until now. This was why the negoitiations have always been ongoing with Man City and I suspect with Villa for sometime. Hard faced negoitions that played as much upon Man City''s need as they did on ours.We now only have to do as well as our competitors and we are in the Premier. So please give the board a bit more credit for knowing what they are doing and recognise that if they had behaved in the way some fans on here wanted them to do then we would have ended up with nothing."Softly softly catchee monkey "as the old saying goes
