Those of a certain vintage can sing along if they wish

Right said Smith, both of us together
Get this club to where they wanna go.
Couldn't shift it, couldn't even lift it,
We was getting nowhere and so we had a mug of tea

Right said Smith, get a call to Pukki
Up pops Teemu like the perfect pro
Heavy lumping, lots of Pukki jumping,
We was getting nowhere and so we had a mug of tea

And Shakey had a think and he said 'Look Dean
If we replace the small boys
With lots of muscled tall boys
With a hopeful punt
We can hit the guy upfront.'

Right said Smith, now that Idah's injured
On the ground is where we have to go
Got the ball down
Sargent had to fall down
We was getting nowhere and so we had a mug of tea

Right said Smith, give me a Brazilian
But his barber wouldn't scrape so low
Crocked Brazilian
Cost us several million
We was getting nowhere and so we had a mug of tea

And Shakey had a think and he said, 'Look Dean
I got a sorta notion
With loads of clueless motion
We can plug that hole
We might even score a goal.'

Right said Smith, Soccerbot's the answer
That will tell me what I wanna know
Wiring sizzled, lots of hair got frizzled,
Spoiling Deano's flat top, and so

Pukki and me had his final mug of tea
And then he went home.

Very timely OP, given Mr Cribbins passing just last week.

I must confess i was surprised at the news, as I thought he had already passed!

Always enjoyed watching him when I was youngster.

Oh, I didn't realise he passed away last week. I hope my parody doesn't seem insensitive. Thanks for letting me know.

Thanks. Cribbins was very talented. His performance as the pedantic and rather odd travelling salesman in Fawlty Towers is brilliant.

I'm starting to think there are possibilities for a song about Webber based on Digging a Hole.

TIME FLIES BY IN THE YELLOW AND GREEN

You’re pushing this one aren’t you. Give it a bit more substance so it is chant worthy, then put it in a thread (I can show you how if you’re not sure how to start one?) and then see how it takes.

OR, just let a very nicely written post, which pays tribute to Bernard Cribbins while simultaneously getting a shed load of likes, allow its own bit of limelight? I can see you hadn’t even liked it, you just went straight in with ‘I know a George Ezra song that says yellow and green’. I saw it on another thread, I didn’t miss it, I definitely got it, I just didn’t think it’s had much effort put into it to make it work.

In the meantime, nice work bubbles.
