Alan Ball

reserves at watford last monday

Recommended Posts

Managed to go allong as was working locally. The young lads done extremely well and were well marshalled in defece by shacks, his throat must of been horse at the end with all the shouting and incouregement he was giving to the younger ones and shoutong when mistakes were made.He looked back to the levels he was at last season.People there were saying that 5 clubs have watched him in last 2 reserve games from championship and league 1 and want to take him on for the rest of season. So what is it that others see when worthy just stops our lads playing for norwich? Was good to see Ryan garvis back playing as well.

Nice to hear the reserves looked good. Shackell is still regaining match fitness after injury, otherwise he''d be considered for a first team start. The last two games he was on the bench and Worthy said it was only due to lack of options, as the lad was still on his way back. That''s the unfortunate reality this year - we have to have crocked players on the bench to make up the numbers.

Having watched the game I cannot say enough good things about the attitude and behavior of Shacks on the pitch. His play was inspirational  and the way he looked after the youngsters and his encouragement was superb. His desire to win was there for all to see and the young man was a credit to the club-the next captain without doubt
Next Barnsley skipper perhaps.
an unnecessary thing to say.  Worthy has gone on record as saying that Shacks would be in his first choice centre back pairing, so why make a comment like that?

Reason enough to dismiss him then. I didn''t see the game at Watfor but

have seen him play many many times for first team and reserves. People

seem to like him because he''s brave and gets stuck in, but his cavalier

attitude and lack of positional sense made Doherty look like a muppet

on many occasions and Halliday also.

He''s a slow learner, a loan spell would be a great chance to see if he can learn given an extended.

Ryan ''dopey'' Jarvis could do with another loan out too, he IS getting better, but needs to improve his anticipation

Haven''t you noticed, Temp? Pete and Link are the finest proponents of the pointless one-line put down. It''s a shame, when both of them are capable of contributing much more to the forum, that they feel compelled to belittle any post which shows the club in a positive light.

I remember a couple of years back watching Shackell in the reserves at

colchester. You could see the potential then. IMO the best centre back

at the club. When he''s fit he should play weather Nigel agrees who

knows anymore i can''t see him dropping Zesh or the Doc, but he needs

first team games and we need to keep him at the club.

Rumoured - exactly.  But, as previously stated, Nige has already said he rates him very highly and he would have been a starter all season but for illness and injury, so why would he have gone to Barnsley?
