Ulfotto 644 Posted December 27, 2021 Is this a surprise though. Beat the bottom 10 teams once and you have a good chance of staying up.
Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 1,040 Posted December 27, 2021 By way of a very quick bit of research, since 1990 our league record versus Man Utd is P24 W4 D1 L19, think you need to find another stick..........
Hank shoots Skyler 2,094 Posted December 27, 2021 But those games are all write offs aren’t they? Every newly promoted and lower prem team loses every game against the big 6 without fail and there are never any hard earned points or upset victories. Ever. Jambomo 215 Posted December 27, 2021 It would be interesting to look at the records of other teams around us. Norwich haven’t been the only side getting massively turned over by these teams.
Hank shoots Skyler 2,094 Posted December 27, 2021 Looking at last year’s relegated teams. Sheff united finished bottom with just 23 points yet 6 of those points came from man united away and Everton away. Two games plenty of our fans were more than happy to write off. Thats 6 points from the write offs and 17 elsewhere. An extra 35% ‘bonus’ points on their non-write off tally. West Brom finished second bottom with just 26 points, yet managed a draw and a win against Chelsea, a draw at Man City and Liverpool, and another draw at home to Chelsea. That’s 7 points from the write offs and 19 points elsewhere. Extra 37% bonus points. Fulham finished third bottom with just 28 points, yet managed a win and a draw against Liverpool, a win at Leicester, a draw against Arsenal, a win at Everton and a draw against man united. That’s 12 points from games we’ve written off this season and 16 points elsewhere. An extra 75%. Hell even ourselves two seasons ago. Finished with just 21 points rock bottom yet managed a win against Man City, a win at Everton, a win and a draw versus Leicester and draws against Arsenal and Spurs. That’s 12 points against teams we’ve written off this season and 9 points elsewhere. An extra 133% bonus points. Could you imagine us finishing with just 9 points had we actually written those games off with 0 points? So we currently find ourselves bottom with a record of 0 points from any of these ‘write off’ games. Had we yielded points in these games to a similar degree of the examples given of clubs in previous relegation spots (I.e. the bare minimum we should expect) then we could actually be out of the relegation zone right now. An extra 40%-50% on our current total would put us on 14-15 points right now. I don’t really see how we can call these points a ‘bonus’ when we get them, the fact is that any team with any hope for staying up in this league has to amass some degree of points from the big 6-8 teams. And remember the examples I have shown are all from clubs who failed last season too, this should be something we are capable of, even without staying up. It was never true that the opening four games were write offs, and it’s never been true that any game since against a top side has been one either. Then again maybe when you factor in that this is one of the poorest and most disappointing NCFC teams ever, perhaps it’s too much to even expect us to put up a fight close to as well as last year’s failed teams, or ourselves from 2 years ago? In conclusion we are ****ing pathetic.
Ulfotto 644 Posted December 27, 2021 Results against certainly put a decent spin on Hughton 11th place first season we beat Man Utd, Arsenal and Man City that year without those 9 points we would have gone down a year before we did.
