Poor old Blackburn

Impossible. I was explicitly told that the reason we lost so heavily was that we didn't have the likes of Bradley Johnson anymore. Proper leaders n all that, which apparently we don't have.

Clearly the gap between us and Chelsea is not quite as big as that between Blackburn and Fulham then, given that we were away and they were at home. Probably the best ever Championship side, Fulham. Or Bournemouth. Oh no, they lost tonight. West Brom, then.

But we will be again next season.

Are Blackburn still owned by the Venky's ?

Yes, and show no intention of selling.  The Blackburn fans have accepted the situation and are just getting on with things, which apart from this thrashing are generally heading in the right direction.  There's a lesson for some on here.

Once again though, the result shows the gulf between EPL and Championship where retention of players and despite a change of manager, improving Championship teams can still be made to look hopeless if they retain the same playing principles.  The one surprise this year is how badly Sheffield United are doing, but Jocanovic has completely changed the way they play, reverting to a patient possession based approach from the more Gung Ho approach adopted by Wilder.

Stick with what you know.

I remember losing 5-0 at Fulham which was a pretty awful day out altogether.

But there is a big difference between losing 7-0 at Chelsea who are probably the best team in England at the moment.  And losing 7-0 at home to Fulham.

I'd argue Fulham are the best team in the Championship right now.

Also Blackburn played 60 minutes with 10 men.

The Fulham team that played last night was virtually the early season one last year which got hammered like we are being hammered. A couple of newbie youngsters but mainly ageing players clearly not good enough for the EPL.

The gap between the two leagues is now so huge it looks almost impossible to breach without buying a team - that used to cost an average of £10m a player but, as we have discovered, it's now nearer £20m to even have a chance.

Aston Villa have spent £300m in 3 years and they are 3 points above the relegation zone.

Everton have spent over £500m in the last 4 years and their fans aren't happy.

Fulham of course spent over £100m 2 years ago and still went down.

We were the best team in the Championship, Fulham may well be. It doesn't matter anymore though. Whoever comes up will go down again very quickly. They might last a season or two, like Leeds, Sheff Utd and maybe Brentford but the likes of Burnley, Brighton, Southampton, Wolves etc are simply streets ahead now.
