Midlands Yellow 3,984 Posted March 14, 2021 Sad to hear his death announced today. What a boxer that man was, pound for pound one of the best ever.
Thirsty Lizard 3,164 Posted March 14, 2021 Yes, completely agree - a really sad loss. A fantastic boxer - I still to this day can't understand how he lost that decision to Sugar Ray Leonard and that first round of his fight against Hearns is quite possibly the best round of boxing of all time. TheGunnShow 5,940 Posted March 14, 2021 There wasn't much he couldn't do in a ring. Orthodox, southpaw, box, brawl, and sometimes just downright fight. Didn't duck anyone, didn't back down from a fight in the ring, and was the epitome of class. He also had the good fortune to be around when the likes of Hearns and Leonard were also great and along with Duran, they all enhanced each other's legends. Midlands Yellow 3,984 Posted March 14, 2021 I worked with Tony Sibson’s wife and he’ll be devastated. He absolutely adored the man and they were great friends after their title fight.
Midlands Yellow 3,984 Posted March 14, 2021 Thomas Hearns is saying it was due to a bad reaction after receiving the Coronavirus injection.

keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted March 14, 2021 The first of the "animals" and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Not prepared to give any quarter and ready to punish rather than just box. Tyson must have studied his ruthless tenacity. Alan Minter never knew what hit him.
