SpeakerRyan thought he was leaving today but apparently a renewed row over funding "The Wall" is getting in his way. Jools 584 Posted December 29, 2018 (edited) The Top 12 MAGA Moments for Donald Trump in 2018 AP Photo/Jae C. Hong, File 28 Dec 20184781 7:20 President Donald Trump spent his second year in office under siege from Democrats and the establishment media, but there were moments when his supporters felt particularly vindicated about their decision to vote for him. Those moments are “MAGA moments,”when it was clear that Trump was keeping his campaign promise to Make America Great Again. Here are the top MAGA moments of 2018: 12) Donald Trump rallies with Rush Limbaugh President Donald Trump chose to close out the 2018 midterm election campaign with a final campaign rally in Missouri with talk radio legend Rush Limbaugh. It was a definitive moment in the campaign when he reminded supporters he would continue his common sense conservative populist agenda and defy the Washington, DC, political establishment and the leftists in the establishment media. Carolyn Caster/AP “There is no other politician with a connection to voters like this,” Limbaugh marveled. “Nobody has it, and Washington can’t stand it.” 11) Kanye West Delivers Pro-Trump Message in the Oval Office In October, Hip-hop superstar Kanye West visited President Donald Trump at the Oval Office, delivering a speech in favor of the president’s agenda. “We have to release the love throughout the entire country and give opportunities,” West said in a speech that defied the leftist media and pop culture’s attempt to smear the president. Kanye West shows Donald Trump a photo of a hydrogen plane during their raucous meeting in the Oval Office.EVAN VUCCI / AP Trump appreciated West’s free-flowing speech, despite parts of it that had to be censored for media coverage. “He can speak for me any time he wants,” Trump said. “He’s a smart cookie. He gets it.” 10) Republican Senate Majority Saved Although Republicans lost the House of Representatives in the 2018 midterm elections, they saved the majority in the Senate. Brendan Smialowski/AFP/Getty Images Republicans took over Democratic Senate Seats in Indiana, North Dakota, Florida, and Missouri, and held on to open seats in Tennessee and Utah. The strengthening of the Senate Majority is immensely important for President Trump’s judicial nominations, especially if he gets a third opportunity to nominate a Supreme Court Justice. 9) Trump Welcomes Home Three American Detainees from North Korea In May 2018, President Donald Trump welcomed home three American detainees from North Korea, a major victory for the United States. That sped up a unilateral meeting between President Donald Trump and South Korean dictator Kim Jong-un and subsequently cooled a period of instability in the region. Andrew Burton:Getty Images “We’re on track to hit the highest annual average growth rate in over 13 years,” he said. “And I will say this right now, and I’ll say it strongly: As the trade deals come in one by one, we’re going to go a lot higher than these numbers.” 7) American Embassy Moved to Jerusalem In May 2018 the United States officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by opening up a consulate in the city. Trump’s campaign promise to move the embassy was finally fulfilled, ignoring lobbying against the decision from members of his own administration and foreign leaders around the world. McMaster as his National Security Advisor. John Bolton, Mike Pompeo In March 2018, the president brought in Mike Pompeo as his Secretary of State and John Bolton as his National Security Advisor, both of whom appeared more comfortable channeling the president’s agenda abroad. 5) Unemployment rate at 3.7 percent In October 2018, the Bureau of Labor announced that the unemployment rate had reached 3.7 percent, the lowest rate since 1969. Just out: 3.7% Unemployment is the lowest number since 1969! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 5, 2018 “Under Republican leadership, America is booming, America is thriving, and America is winning like never before, because we are finally putting America first,” Trump boasted at a campaign rally after the news was released. 4) Signing the new USMCA trade deal President Donald Trump, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau signed a new trade deal replacing NAFTA on November 30. Trump spent two years driving for a new trade deal to replace NAFTA and earned concessions from both Canada and Mexico. “This is a model agreement that changes the trade landscape forever,” Trump said at the signing ceremony. “And this is an agreement that, first and foremost, benefits working people — something of great importance to all three of us here today.” The new agreement still has to be approved by Congress in 2019. 3) Ending the Iran Deal President Donald Trump campaigned on ending the Iran deal, but some of his advisers spent months trying to salvage former president Barack Obama’s signature effort on the world stage. In May 2018, Trump finally kept his promise, signing a memorandum to withdraw from the deal and restore sanctions on the rogue regime. (AP Photo/Evan Vucci) “Today’s action sends a critical message,” Trump said. “The United States no longer makes empty threats. When I make promises, I keep them.” 2) Shutdown fight for border security In December, President Donald Trump bucked members of his own party to demand an additional $5 billion in funding for any kind of physical barrier on the Southern border. In previous government funding fights, the president had conceded to obstruction from Democrats, as House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell promised to fight for more funding after the midterm election. Despite signs from the White House that Trump was again preparing to concede the fight, he took on Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. With a partial government shutdown on the horizon, President Trump and Democratic leaders had a heated exchange over border security and wall funding in front of reporters. Trump was vindicated when Republicans successfully passed a government funding bill that included additional funds for national security. The fight is ongoing, but Trump supporters were particularly pleased that the president was willing to fight for his signature campaign promise. 1) Trump appoints Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court In October, President Trump witnessed the swearing in of his second nominee to the Supreme Court, keeping his campaign promise to nominate constitutional judges. Brett Kavanaugh (L) is sworn-in as Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court by Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy (R) before wife Ashley Estes Kavanaugh (2nd-R), daughters Margaret (2nd-L) and Elizabeth (C), and US President Donald Trump at the White House in Washington, DC. (Photo by Jim WATSON / AFP) (Photo credit should read JIM WATSON/AFP/Getty Images) It was a long, destructive confirmation battle in the Senate, but ultimately Brett Kavanaugh was sworn in, despite dozens of false smears against his character. “On behalf of our nation, I want to apologize to Brett and the entire Kavanaugh family for the terrible pain and suffering you have been forced to endure,” Trump said at the swearing-in ceremony. “What happened to the Kavanaugh family violates every notion of fairness, decency, and due process.” Edited April 18, 2019 by Jools

Jools 584 Posted January 4, 2019 (edited) American Economy Added The Most Manufacturing Jobs in Over 20 years Donald Trump has delivered on a key promise that many economists said was impossible: manufacturing jobs boomed in 2018. The manufacturing sector added 284,000 positions over 2018, its best year since 1997. The revival of American manufacturing was a cornerstone of Trump’s 2016 campaign promise to Make America Great Again. Many economists derided the idea that manufacturing could boom in the U.S., insisting that a combination of automation and globalization meant that factory jobs were gone for good. Some even accused Trump of attempting to “con” the American people with promises of manufacturing jobs. Perhaps the highest profile attack on Trump’s manufacturing jobs promise came from then-President Barack Obama. “Well, how exactly are you going to do that? What exactly are you going to do? There’s no answer to it,” Obama said. “He just says, ‘Well, I’m going to negotiate a better deal.’ Well, what, how exactly are you going to negotiate that? What magic wand do you have? And usually the answer is, he doesn’t have an answer.” Pres. Obama on Donald Trump: "The answer is he doesn't have an answer." #POTUSonNewsHour https://t.co/0XtuCDJvAx — PBS NewsHour (@NewsHour) June 2, 2016 Obama’s skepticism is perhaps understandable. On the campaign trail in 2012, Obama pledged to create 1 million manufacturing jobs in his second term. Instead, the U.S. economy added only 549,000 jobs in manufacturing over the following four years. In his final year in office, manufacturing employment actually contracted. For an administration staffed by people who regarded themselves as the smartest economics minds on the scene, the failure to revive manufacturing jobs likely made it seem like an impossible task. In fact, in Obama’s entire eight-year term, the economy never added as many manufacturing jobs as it did last year. In Obama’s very best year, the economy added 211,000 manufacturing jobs–and that was building from a very low base because so many jobs had been destroyed by the Great Recession. The 2018 performance is all the more remarkable because it was not a rebound from a recession. In fact, last year the economy added 207,000 manufacturing jobs. To put it into perspective, Trump’s economy added nearly as many manufacturing jobs in its first two years than Obama’s economy added in his entire second term. The MAGA Wand The manufacturing jobs boom also defies the predictions that tariffs and trade disputes would weigh on domestic manufacturers outside of steel and aluminum. Instead, manufacturing added jobs at a faster clip than the broader economy. And far from being crushed, data in January shows that export manufacturing has not only continued to grow but the rate of growth is accelerating. These are good jobs making lasting products. About two-thirds of 2018’s new manufacturing jobs are in durable goods, which includes machinery, autos, airplanes, and other big-ticket items. Economists will no doubt spend years figuring out exactly what gave rise to the Trump manufacturing boom and why so many forecasts were so far off-base. No doubt trade policy, tax cuts, and regulatory reform all played a role. But a good deal of the manufacturing revival is likely based on something less tangible but no less real: the revival of hope. People who believe we can “make America great again” are hiring, starting new businesses, and returning to the workforce. Maybe Obama’s “magic wand” comment was not so far off. But he should have called it a MAGA Wand 😜😎👍 Edited April 18, 2019 by Jools

Rock The Boat 1,332 Posted January 19, 2019 So the mainstream media have been exposed as liars and peddlers of fake news.....again! Donald Trump's battle with the media reached new heights on Saturday after the special counsel investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election took the extraordinary step of disputing an explosive report. Robert Mueller’s office issued a rare public statement disputing a BuzzFeed News story that his investigators had evidence the US president directed his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to lie to Congress about a property deal in Moscow. Mr Trump and his Republican allies have repeatedly claimed the Russia investigation is a politically motivated "witch hunt", and used the statement to ramp up claims of bias within the US media, noting that the report was discussed extensively on cable news. "It was a total phony story and I appreciate the special counsel coming out with a statement last night. I think it was very appropriate that they did so," Mr Trump told reporters outside the White House on Saturday. "It was a disgrace to journalism, and I think also that the coverage by the mainstream media was disgraceful, and I think it’s going to take a long time for the mainstream media to recover its credibility." Rudy Giuliani ✔@RudyGiuliani I commend Bob Mueller’s office for correcting the BuzzFeed false story that Pres. Trump encouraged Cohen to lie. The full video clearly shows the kids waiting for their bus pickup and being subjected to racist taunts from the Black Hebrew group Then after an hour the Native Indian group approached the kids, beating a drum and got right in their faces. One of the Indians threw more racist threats to the white kids telling them to get back to Europe. The Indian with the drum, who claimed to be a Vietnam veteran but later discovered he never served in Vietnam, was the instigator but the mainstream media and the left twisted this story around just like you have done by calling them Hitler Youth.
