JF 694 Posted May 19, 2018 Don’t forget his generosity in supplying that 1000 decibels half time speaker to entertain (drown out/deafen) the crowd! Better than that crap hotel that Delia had built there!
king canary 7,606 Posted May 19, 2018 Purple is of course correct- it is extremely difficult to compare football from even 10 years ago let again 40/50.Although does rather undermine the argument some like to make that our current ownership can get us promoted because they''ve done it before. It also involves key decisions such as to who the manager/head coach is. It also in effect requires us to now be in a different financial era for the argument to be potentially flawed in that way, and we got promoted only four seasons ago. However, as said before, even if we are not yet in a radically different financial era in the Championship, it is certainly true that the influx of (often overseas) corporate money into the division is a trend that that is already making it harder for a self-sustaining club to compete, and if the trend carries on it will get tougher still. king canary 7,606 Posted May 20, 2018 I think we''re already in a very different era financially.Ten years ago you wouldn''t see championship teams paying ÂŁ5m+ for players yet it happens pretty regularly now.
corbs 147 Posted May 21, 2018 Confirms what we already know, we have over achieved and same 6 or 7 clubs always at the top with the odd blip (us in 93 and LCFC recently). Time for some mid table 2nd tier, get with the programme, dudes.

In some ways this is better than the perpetual struggle to try to avoid relegation which most clubs outside the top 7 or 8 face, to a greater or lesser degree.
