Whitaker before Martin

Recommended Posts

Thought whitts showed what he was all about today. Did well getting forward and nearly scored but my God his defending. The bit at the end was bad but before that, his attempt at defending that cross by swinging the wrong leg at it?!

We were starting to get a bit of joy on the right wing through Pinto just before HT. I guess AN wanted to try and keep that threat. Whittaker is much better than RM going forward and was involved in a fair few goals last time we were in the Chumps.

But of course you do take a risk from a defense point of view by playing him over Martin. RM would have been a safer option, but I think AN felt it was worth the risk.

when people say whittaker is good going forward do you truly believe that? because if you do, you need a good sit down and have a good stern word with yourself.

Whittaker belongs in the Scottish championship at best

I had no problems with Whittaker coming on but it did make me question why we had whittaker, bassong and Martin on the bench.

With Whits able to cover both full backs and some def midfield cover was there really a need for two cbs on the bench? With Russ able to cover right back too bassong seemed overkill.

we have not many pro players outside of group of 18 on Sunday so why to make Bassong unhappy telling him is out of 18 group for youth who never can be used in derby day!?

I watch Maddison in 2 pre season games and forget if believe this boy is ready for a battle...

Whittaker - when on form - is good at linking play down the right hand side and good attacking - as we saw yesterday. With Pinto injured he was the only  sensible option. After all, Martin is mainly a centre-half these days.
