BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted October 17, 2015 Probably. They are time wasting to the extreme. It''s painful, three minutes for a bowling change.Root could do it.

BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted October 17, 2015 Disgraceful.Gamesmanship won.Moral victory for England.P.S. What are the lights for?
AJ 1,358 Posted October 17, 2015 A shame for sport but they ended about the same time yesterday so at least they''re consistent.Great game of cricket, just a shame about the end result. Can''t see why with floodlights you can''t play on these days, same with Tennis
Katie Borkins 1 Posted October 17, 2015 Nasser Hussain''s England had a similar scenario circa 2000 and Thorpe won it in near darkness after Pakistan time wasted to an absurd degree. The light law now favours the time waster, alas.
SHRIMPER 328 Posted October 17, 2015 England would have pulled the same timewasting gamesmanship tactics if the rolls had been reversed. Not nice but they all do it.
Jacko 0 Posted October 18, 2015 As expected, Pakistan slowed things right down to ensure that no positive result occurred. England would have done exactly the same in those circumstances to ensure a draw so I''m not going to criticise them for that. I think it does show that when the stakes are high ''gamemanship'' will occur in any sport and football isn''t as morally bankrupt in relation to other sports as it''s critics like to portray. These days the umpires hands are also tied. When the light is poor it can''t be offered to the batsman and instead they simply have to come off. They''ve applied the rules consistently on both days so I don''t think they can be blamed either. There are plenty of positives that England can take from this. They''ve responded magnificently to being put under enormous pressure in some energy sapping heat and then almost forced a victory on an absolute road of a wicket. Whilst you can''t go overboard, Adil Rashid has also shown signs that he can be a genuine wicket taker at this level.
BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted October 18, 2015 "A shame for sport but they ended about the same time yesterday so at least they''re consistent."Which is why the Pakistanis knew it would pay dividends slowing the game down. England could have had it won in ten minutes. They wasted more than that. Also, if play has been consistently curtailed by bad light, then why not start earlier in the day?The mention of lights however would only be valid with the white ball apparently. Katie Borkins 1 Posted October 18, 2015 How lovely to see an English leg spinner taking wickets, especially when our previous effort was Ian Salisbury.
