1.
According to Robbie Savage he said they were a complete shambles and certanties for relegation. Apparently they did not even have a shot ?
Based on highlights it did look like they were lucky not to lose by 3 or 4..
2. Having just seen back to back "highlights" from QPR and Norwich games, I''m not sure who played worse - but QPR I think shaded it for their ability to give up the ghost slightly earlier... and they were at home.
3. Yes they were brave in the 2nd half, but they escaped an absolute hammering. City "missed a few chances" doesn''t even come close to describing the number of goals Soton could have let in in both halves. Good job for them that City missed that penalty around 15 min or else it could have got ugly. So I''m less worried about Soton than the scoreline suggests, however that doesn''t detract from the massive wake up call we got. I know we can match what Soton showed in the way of attacking football - and be better at defending when we do attack than Soton were today...
4.
Feels good man, I was bricking it before the game, individually we weren''t even that good but Adkins tactics and the performance and as a team was quality. Should have the Ramirez and Phillips signings wrapped up 2mo, then just gotta buy a new defence and we''re good to go.
With respect, entertaining match, but boy do you ever !
5. Difference as I see it is that last season we attacked from the off - Soton didn''t they parked the bus in front of the goal. City lost Aguero and Silva misses the panalty, then City miss a string of chances from inside the box - mainly because it was so packed with bodies there was no room. When Soton couter attacked they looked good - like us last year - but once they opened up and tried to take the game to City they got torn apart. So yes they may feel good about the performance today, but I don''t think that is going to last long. - BTW I didn''t see us yesterday and have no comment about that, it sounded awful and based on the Ajax game I''m not suprised we got thumped
6. 3-2 If MC had their shootimg boots on today, Soton would be down 7-0 or 7-1. It''s going to be a Blackpool-like season for them - some pretty foortball but relegation - their defence and goalkeeper just not up to the task.
7. Balottelli missed another one ! Good to see Soton counter attacking though.. exciting game.
8. 2-2 Well MC finally manageged to put one of those shots from inside the box away - what was that 6 now ?
9. 1-2 Shocking - just shows you was 60 degrees and a light rain will do for the opportunities for an away team... Been a good weekend for England goalkeepers...
10.
As I was not particularly impressed with the opening ceremonies ( compared to the favourable response from most posters ) I thought I would just add my input on the closing. Actually, I have no input but rather a criticism of the coverage of the American network ( NBC ). During the past two weeks many of the traditional Olympic events have only been covered on a tape delay basis in the US. Much of the live coverage during the day was often on other less popular events. Not very enjoyable from my perspective and, as a result, I gave much of it a pass. This from someone who loves the Olympic Games. The closing ceremonies, although they are now over, will not be shown until a few hours from now ( presumably ). Therefore, I will also give them a pass. From what many on here are suggesting I''m not missing much.
Shame, Yankee. You could have seen it on NBC live tream - no commercials and no annoyimg commentators either. M. Rogge speaking now ...
11. Great to see the crowd interact with Freddy Mercury...
12. It''s true they ran us ragged second half, but I doubt there are many better teams than that in the Premier. West Ham will go down, West Brom and one other...
13. Memo to club - please NEVER play in that ghastly black strip again. Brought my kids almost 6,000 miles to see the Yellows... that would be the team that plays in yellow and green. Didn''t need to see 11 referees on the pitch.. Other than that, agree with what was said above. Holt looked off the pace, but Vaughan certainly didn''t. Not much else to say other than two very good goals, but our passing was pretty rusty and of course there was no bite in the tackles, which probably helped give the impression that Johnson had a poor game.
