  1. Maybe it is me being too old fashioned (even though i''m only 16!!!!), but i feel the change is really sad. i''d agree with doncaster that the ''Football League Championship'' is unlikely to bring in extra revenue than ''Division 1.'' An institution since 1888 should not just be modernised for the sake of it. Personally i think it will give the league a tacky look. A change to the play off system is also suggested. Ignoring this season when everything is so tight, the season is over for 12 of the 24 clubs by Februrary if we did not have the play offs. I think the current system is just right, even if the 6th placed club gets promoted with 15 points fewer than the third - we all know the situation at the beginning of the season
  2. which games remaining this season are on SKY??????I think west brom, any others?
  3. Was wondering what everyone''s first game was etc etc Mine was Swindon away 1992/3 season, we drew 3-3, i was five everyone else?????
  4. Does anyone know what would happen?? When we signed Huckerby there was talk that Man City had to pay up most of his remaining wages, so if Millwall did sign Ipswick would still have to cough up. And hes on a free too.
  5. I think whatever the result we would have a potential problem If Rotherham lost we would face a backlash If Rotherham won there would be even more incentive for the Rotherham players to perform with a potential place against Manure available. Anyway, i think it should be us who determine whether we win or not, not how the opposing team plays.
  6. on about 10,000 a week at Portsmouth, even if we get him to about 5,000 i don''t think it would be worth it. hes unlikely to come having played for bayer leverkusen in the 2002 champions league final
  7. Jason Roberts for 2million, Darren Huckerby for 750k To me Huckerby is twice the player and almost three times as cheap. Anyone here who would rather have Roberts????
  8. In an article on the website Worthington says ''The one thing about them as a group is that they know when they''ve done well and they know when they''ve not done so well.'' I''m not sure those who met mulryne and mcveigh on saturday night would agree, unless stuffing yourself with pies is a way of trying to do better after playing so badly.
  9. As Aramillo pointed out in an earlier thread, it makes far more sense to lose to bradford and win against ipswich/sunderland etc at the stage of the season where we can identify the 6 pointers, id much rather lose to rotherham this weekend but go on to beat sheff utd the next, than to beat rotherham and indeed get a draw against sheff utd.of course we want to be beat both, but as we pass the half way mark it seems more important to stop the clubs getting points a bit of a jumble, hope it is clear enough but its an interesting point of view
  10. I agree, but althoughwe are still two points clear and the reaction to our defeat was prehaps excessive, what most people are probably upset by is the fact that Bradford at home is a must win game. The manner in which we lost is worrying. Anyway, roll on saturday and then we can judge just where we are
  11. As much as i''d like to say we-re still 2 points clear, canary boy we won''t be ''surviving'' in the premiership because we won''t be in the premiership. i''m sorry but bradford at home is a must win game, and it is a game we have to win if we want to even consider being promoted.
  12. maybe that paranoia was well placed
  13. Does anyone know much about this boy?? He seems to be the only squad player that we hear nothing about. If my memory serves me right he played in the game at Gillingham last season, but there hasn''t been so much as a whisper about him since then. Can anyone help me??
  14. I seem to have a funny feeling about the Bradford game. To be perfectly honest i think the FA Cup was a huge distraction, for we now haven''t played a Div1 game for about 12games, and somehow it feels that our run has been interrupted - will it still continue? Time and time again teams become too complacent - Bradford 4-1, Sheff Utd 3-2, Watford 2-1. Put that together with Bradford pushing West Brom a long way before finally losing 1-0. As much as i welcome thoughts of winning 5-0 with a Huckerby hat-trick, things can easily go wrong Is it just me??
  15. who do you think can hack it in the premiership??? I''d think Green, Drury, Mulryne/Holt/Francis in midfield, maybe McVeigh and Huckerby. Of those in the current team I feel that MacKay certainly couldn''t manage Premiership football, niether Edworthy, Henderson and whoever Huckerby''s partner upfront is.
  16. in the picture on the official site who is the 8foot person.i''d assume it was crouch but surely the picture was taken after the everton game
  17. Having seen that 20 players have just been made redundant, are there any who we could or should be interested in? I seem to remember that we looked at Caballero, but maybe thats just me
  18. The fact is that Darren Huckerby does not have to signed NOW, but when his loan ends or more probably in January. So in the mean time lets just be happy that we''ve got him and give this particular discussion a rest til the time when we may sign him.I for one am getting bored fo this constant Huckerby talk - bring it up again in a month''s time
  19. Is Ian Walker really better than Greeno, or the other England goalies for that matter. Surely Eriksson would be far better off giving a young keeper a place in the squad at such a stage, rather than choosing ian walker who has far older, and frankly is never going to be engalnds first choice keeper.
  20. Highly unlikely i know, but it has been suggested that there could be a differnet story to the agent''s words. He says Norwich aren''t big enough, fans upset. Darren says he wants to stay, everyone happy and even more of a crowd favourite - more pressure on the board to sign him Feel that there is enough pressure on the board as it is, just a thought though
  21. Is it the mdifield? I have always seen it as being the defence being too slow(Fleming and Mackay). The defence has to play deep, which means the midfield has to too, and so they have far more ground to cover
  22. It is also true that whilst we don''t sign players such as Huckerby, the more the rest of the squad will be thinking that the club is lacking in ambition. this is such a huge chance that it is different to previous times - he says he wants to move and he has shown us what he can do. if we simply leave him and hope for the best we may be playing div 1 football next year minus drury, green, mcviegh or francis, which is just as bad as not signing huckerby, if not worse
  23. Why are we not loaning out players like Jarvis, Henderson, Batt and Sinclair. Fine, some may be needed for the first team but we could at least loan out a couple. I remember when Defoe went to Bournemouth from West Ham a few years back and scored the most goals in consecutive games, and now look where he is.
  24. Somehow, although it may be hard to do so, i think that we should forget huckerby at the end of the three months and try to bring someone else in. his fee will be huge,as will his wages. just imagine if a couple of weeks after we sign him, he is injured for the rest of the season. fine, we would have him for next season, but his astronomical wages that we would be paying, and in the process probably have broken the club''s wage structure, would be wasted. If we are going to get someone of real quality on premiership wages i feel that it would have to be only temporary because a club like Norwich could not cope with having to pay huge wages to an injured player - is it worth the risk?
