  1. Or using Fulham's interest to panic Norwich? Or just stirring up interest to get anyone to bite.
  2. All depends on the performance of the team and each player really. Tzolis, Sargent etc will all have opportunities to impress off the bench.
  3. Sorenson isn't technically better than Gilmour, not by distance. Sorenson has a good passing range, but Gilmour's is exceptional.
  4. That is how I see it, but the Carvalho links have confused things as he certainly cannot play box-to-box. It could be he was someone Norwich looked at a while back and it is just getting leaked now to try and drum up some interest in him. The only name we really know is live is Mathias Normann, he is very much a box-to-box player and signing him would probably mean Gilmour remains the player maker while a combination of Normann, PLM and McLean do the hard yards. Sorenson and Rupp could step into Gilmour's position if he is injured.
  5. Krul; Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Williams; Gilmour; PLM, McLean; Rashica, Cantwell; Pukki Think Williams will get the nod over Dimi but that is a 50/50. McLean will come in for Rupp and no changes upfront.
  6. Soyuncu and Amartey are likely to be the centre back pairing - Leicester fans really aren't keen on Amartey and some are saying that Ndidi might get moved there as he has done that before. Pukki had Soyuncu on toast both times he played him in 19/20, so hopefully he can do that again. Key is to press Leicester high and not give them time to build anything - although that can play into Vardy's hands - it is a tricky balance.
  7. They had some head room in their budget after removing a lot of their older players who were on high wages. They have a 4 wealthy co-owners so they will likely be able to take the financial hit, and have saleable assets in Guehi, Anderson and Zaha so would be alright in the short term. Their squad still looks thin though, especially in attack - over the first two games they have managed 11 shots in total (Norwich made more against Liverpool alone). If they can get the new players to click they could be okay, but without anymore additions they will need Eze to get back and start firing straight away.
  8. I saw that Hughes turned down £60k a week to remain at Watford, so lord knows what Palace are paying him.
  9. Spanish media does tend to report wages post-tax unlike the UK which usually uses pre-tax figures.
  10. That report is from here: https://todofichajes.com/el-norwich-avanza-por-william-carvalho/
  11. Trybull and Klose played in the Premier League, right up the relegation and both played after project restart. They were shunted onto the naughty step in the close season as deemed not good enough. That’s fair enough and I probably agree with that assessment. What I don’t get is why they were completely frozen out and not allowed to train with either the U23s or first team. That seems to have damaged both the players’ prospects of getting good moves and the clubs chance of getting a decent fee. I can understand it if they were disruptive characters - but all we’ve ever heard about them is that there were no issues on that front. Luckily it seems Norwich may have learnt their lesson from this and allowed Hugill and Hernandez keep training with the first team, despite it being pretty clear the club don’t think them good enough for the Prem. (Hernandez can’t make the 9 man subs bench or even the 7 man league cup subs bench for example). Most other clubs at least allow their surplus players to train and players with the U23s so they can put themselves in the shop window a bit.
  12. I meant Trybull and Klose are on the naughty step - not allowed to train with the first team or U23s.
  13. Carvalho is one of Betis' highest paid players and not first choice - they definitely want him gone (and have been trying to shift him for a while now).
  14. The issue for me is why was Trybull and Klose treated differently to players like Hugil and Hernandez - those two are also not good enough anymore (or at least as far off it as Trybull is) but they have been kept around the first team and not sent to sit on the naughty step away from everyone else.
  15. I highly doubt those two are going anywhere unless there is a mad offer for either. They are both important first team players and would need replacing - there is almost no time to do that so can't see Norwich sanction a sale. Only caveat being if there has been something going on quietly for a little while now and Norwich have already lined up a replacement. I'm pretty amazed Aarons is still around, but seems no club has firmed up their interest for him.
  16. Carvalho would only be a loan so wouldn't require a huge outlay. Too late in the window for Aarons or Cantwell to leave, unless there is a huge offer.
  17. Apparently he is being linked to a move to Werder Bremen. Seems these two clubs are destined to keep swapping players.
  18. With Vestergard and Evans out their defence isn't looking great. Still have an excellent squad and will be a very tough game - if it hadn't come after Liverpool and Man City I'm not sure many Norwich fans would be expecting much from it. Need to see an improved performance from Norwich and a bit more cohesion in the attack.
  19. Norwich drew and beat them in 19/20 - think that is what the fan is referring to.
  20. Betis really want to shift him and there could be a potential bargain there - so can see why Norwich would have a look and speak to his agent to see if he is interested. Suspect this story coming out is to get his name out there as the window comes to a close and make other teams worry they might be missing out on something.
  21. The two box-to-box guys will be required to sit deep when under constant pressure, maybe even deeper than Gilmour to protect the defence, and then break forward on attacks, it is a really demanding role though. The Man City game saw McLean and Rupp in line with the central defenders at times. There have also been hints that Farke wants Norwich to press higher at times this season, so the two box-to-box guys will do that with Gilmour behind if the press is broken. PLM's defensive abilities should not be overlooked - he had one of the highest rates for tackles and interceptions in France last year and is already leading the Norwich squad for those. Against Bournemouth McLean sat almost as deep as Gilmour throughout the game, it created a sort of lopsided 4-2-3-1, with Rupp on the other side pushing up and Dowell drifting to the centre. The high press in that game created most of the goals, forcing defensive errors. Basically, it seems that there are loads of different things going on in the midfield. Normann, who is very versatile fits into that well.
  22. Think a lot of people haven't seen Carvalho for a while, he was out for 9 months with a couple of injuries and that seems to have really impacted his ability to cover ground. He gets beaten one on one a lot for a defensive midfielder, but is very good a threading a through ball, and is pretty good at taking a player on himself. He isn't a bad player, but he certainly isn't a midfield enforcer - but then no one Norwich have been linked to fills that role so suspect they aren't actually looking for that type of player.
  23. That's true - I'd watched him a number of times in Germany but he never really stood out and just looked plain bad at times. I did a bit more research after the link really firmed up and have come around to him a bit - hopefully the change of club will help. USMNT fans have said he is a confidence player, and it seems the move has really pepped him up a bit. Hopefully that lasts and he can continue to impress. I'm really not sure what type of midfielder Norwich want, Noramm and Carvalho are really different types of players - and neither is someone you plonk in front of the defence to sweep stuff up - which Fernandinho is really good at.
  24. Not really sure Carvalho is the player Norwich need. His performances have really slipped over the past few seasons (which is why Betis are pretty desperate to get rid) and he is someone who needs a more mobile, destructive player alongside him. His main strength now is his composure and ability to dictate tempo and play through a press. While he is positionally sound, he is slow and lost all his dynamism from 4/5 years back. It is an exciting name, but maybe not a suitable fit for Norwich right now.
