1. You won''t like me then, for I bring bad news....It''s a done deal - you''re set to appoint him next week. Won''t reveal source but feel free to come back in a weeks time or so and have a rant if I''m/source is wrong. So, what''s he like:Mainly his naivety let Forest down at crucial points, when we could have gone up but succumbed to Yeovil it was down to zero squad depth. We released our only right midfielder, who was conviniently our set piece taker too, and slid down the table remarkably fast. When we went up, again it was only just and the following season a total lack of squad depth meant we ended up relying on U18''s and loans. Now, positives, he''s a nice bloke, works really hard and seems genuine - maybe not the greatest qualities of a football manager but I''m sure after the Delia debacle that might soften some angst. He''s young too, learning so he can improve. Plays on the deck football. Decent record too. You could do worse.
2. It''s only for the best if your board recognise their faults and adapt in the future. We at Forest had been sliding for years, paying ridiculous wages to lazy players looking for their last pay cheque. Three years in League One felt like a long time, but we cleared the deadwood, appointed a manager who was naive enough to put his trust into youth and got us promoted by virtue of everyone else being shit. In saying that, we now are in an excellent position to build.Norwich will be back and you''ll be back stronger with a team you can be proud of. It might take Delia to resign for you to fulfill your potential however and I''m genuinely sorry to see such a club held back by upper management.
3. Sammy was on £4K at Forest and rejected our contract offer. Probably earning nearer 6 or 7 for you.
4.
There really are no plus''s to being in League One. Yes, people will say you get to see the other side of it, going to smaller grounds etc, but lets be honest - thats just trying to make a little positive out of it.
I think our relegation was the best thing that has happened to our club in it''s recent history. The "Five year plan" coupled with selling off all our assetts and "We''re serious about promotion, are you?" campaign immediately after we escaped relegation the season prior took the piss. Employing fat and players nearing retirement and paying them huge sums of money has been constant since our demise from the premiership - Matrecano, Mannini and Petrachi ring any bells?Since then, we suffered three years in league one yes, but now we have assembled a youthful squad that are prepared to do everything for the club. Our board have learnt from the mistakes of the past and now we look in a position to push on. This wouldn''t have happened had we not got the reality check of relegation to the third tier.Man City, Sheffield Wednesday and now ourselves have come back stronger after relegation. Leicester will do so this season. Norwich I''m sure will follow suit.
5. Then have faith as your season has remarkable relevance to when we went down:- Board had no idea- Overpaid and again players couldn''t give a toss- Fans resigned to relegation from early on- Zero moneyOnce you clean the shit from the top down you''ll be back in no time.
6. Hope you don''t mind me joining in..."No wonder we''re losing, our team are is limp as you are."
7. There''s no way you''ll be fighting off relegation again, the league is dross. Few changes in your squad and you''ll be play-offs, minimum.
8. Well, my club was 3rd bottom for both tables so things could be worse believe it or not.In terms of embarrasment; losing to Accrington Stanley, being held by Weymouth at home and a 5-0 battering by Carlisle twice every season is probably slightly worse than a 4-2 to Charlton.I have no doubts that you won''t sink that low.
9. A club of your size being relegated to the third tier is always that little bit harder to take due to the levels of expectation, so commiserations on what has turned out to be an awful end to the season for your lot. With Leicester, Peterbrough and probably Leeds joining them all coming up, it makes your task of bouncing back straight away that little bit easier. League One is dross, don''t let people tell you it isn''t. Provided you can clear the deadwood and get some fire into the team you should be there abouts in 12 months time.Hope for your sake Delia does the right thing and relieves Gunn of his position before resigning herself. That way you might not have to spend the same amount of time in the third tier as we did.As low as you''re all feeling now, try and realise that the team you love will still be there next season and you can still (try to) enjoy your Saturday afternoons. The club that finished directly below you can''t guaranteed that as yet.Good luck and all the best in the future.
10. Bad result for your lot tonight but it''s not over until it''s over.Barnsley still have a tough away trip to Plymouth and with you playing Charlton three points are on the cards no matter how low you feel at the moment.Good luck in your last game, but if worst comes to worst stick behind your team as they''ll still be there next season and that''s all that matters.
