Good signing I think.  Sounds like a no nonsense type so should be a good alternative to the admiral. Was Lutons player of the season before he went to West Brom and think Mowbray has a pretty good eye for players so if he thought he was worth 2.5m hopefully we will see something good from him.

I had to fill in a questionnaire for a job interview recently. One question was ''Describe yourself in one word'' I answered, "Not good at following instructions".    

I know we are only one game in and that we lost but the thought of Scunny away is enough to get my blood pumping.  As nice as it was wiping the floor with League one last year, it is great to be back in the second tier with all the excitement and potential to come. Are we the best team in the league - probably not Will we go up - possible. Will we go down - possible. Will we stay somewhere in the middle - quite likely. We have fantastic support, a good ambitious manager and are playing in the most open league in the country.  Fridays are full of anticipation again, just hope there won''t be too many Sundays full of disappointment again. Pointless thread but enjoy your Fridays and safe travelling tomorrow!

I think Nicky Hunt would have been a great signing for us but think he and James are together probably on as much a week as 90% of our first team!

Why is Lambert''s transfer a popular spice? Missed something here. Are you referencing the versatile flavour he brings to the induction of new playing staff? Or perhaps it is the spicy way in which he navigates the seedy world of overpaid old pros, finding gems in the lower leagues that you are praising. Please to explain.

Martin, Spillane, Francomb. Cannot see this area being strengthened any more unless we get a loanee in.

Green is a decent prospect but cannot see Lambert adding to the midfield with another prospect. Barring injuries the midfield is done, get over it!

I think it is only sensible to plan for the possibility that Holt might not make the start of the season. IMO Lambert does not want to bring anyone else in though so think it will only happen if Holt is ruled out for longer or there is a new injury. Forget about Danny Green, midfield is complete (again barring injuries)

And like Cardiff and all the others they will dodge the bullet and keep trading. I seriously think that unless a biggish club is allowed to go under nothing will change in the way clubs operate beyond their means. Shocking for the fans.

I think the amount spent will equate to somewhere between £2&3m. As mentioned though the year of the loans probably saw more than this going out in signing fees with nothing to show at the end. Re a right back, think Lambert is not going to sign anyone. He clearly rates Martin and has Smith and Francombe as back up.

Can only assume from that that we must also have had to pay over £1m for him. Given that Wolves paid £1.2m I hope they did not make a profit.

I think the big difference between us and Leeds is more in the wages we would pay out. I heard that they had offered Beckford £25k a week to stay which I doubt we have ever paid a player. Cardiff, Boro, Burnley, QPR etc will all have more cash than us but that will not guarantee anything as the season progresses.

I think Chopra showed what a difference a good finisher can make in the champ. Would love to see us get someone with some Prem experience like Ched or Ebanks Blake as think we need to start building towards this.
