The referee tomorrow is the amusingly-named Ben Toner who takes charge of an NCFC game for the first time. Apparently he was once replaced as referee ahead of a game at Blackpool as it was deemed inappropriate he take charge of a game at a club who (at the time) had a notoriously ‘bent owner’!

Some of the reports on the story say that he was replaced because of his name while others say it was because the EFL wanted a more experienced referee as it was the first game after the Oystons had lost their court case and had put the club up for sale.

  2. Two friends who I’ve been in bands with are playing in Norfolk in the near future.

First up, Knock Off are a street punk ( the genre formally known as OI!) band from Watford. They are doing a short 10th anniversary tour and they’ll be playing the B2 at the Brickmakers Arms on Sunday 10th March. Support comes from On The Huh and LOAD, two local bands (Norwich and Lowestoft respectively). Tickets available here: https://www.wegottickets.com/event/604658#

This is my favourite Knock Off song, played live.

Secondly, although it’s earlier than the Knock Off gig, Straighten Out, the world’s best Stranglers tribute band, are playing Yarmegeddon 12, the Legends Of Rock festival at the Vauxhall Holiday Park in Great Yarmouth. The festival runs from Thursday 29th February to Monday 4th March and Straighten Out play on the Saturday. Here they are playing my all time favourite Stranglers song.

As a fellow Washington fan, now is the time to start paying attention again.

The poison that is Dan Snyder has sold the team, we have a competent and exciting ownership group led by Josh Harris who owns several successful franchises across other sports (the group also includes basketball legend Magic Johnson).... and we have just appointed the hottest prospect going (Adam Peters) to lead the front office, who has spent the last 6 or 7 years as the second in command overseeing the 49ers rebuild and subsequent success. He was coveted as the top general manager candidate across the league and he didn't even interview elsewhere, he took the Washington job immediately.

We've spent the last week interviewing the best available candidates for the head coach position, and should be close to appointing one in the next week or so. I trust the new General Manager and the group in charge to make a good decision on this, and we are now seen as an attractive proposition across the league so good candidates actually want to come to DC.

We have the 2nd overall pick in the draft, and 5 out of the first 100 picks, and we have the most salary cap space in the league.

We are about to begin a beautiful journey - jump on for the ride.

Belated thanks for this, I didn’t realise the General Manager was such an important role, I will be watching next season with interest. Do we need a new QB?

It’s certainly not grim in the Lake District. Fantastic scenery. I love the area for holidays but for me it’s a bit too remote and it rains too much to want to live there.

Funny how we perceive ‘ up North ‘. I always see it as up or down from where I live. Reminds me of a match between Plymouth and Exeter some years ago. A Plymouth player was fouled and to everyone’s amusement the chant of “ You dirty Northern b*stard “ rang out from the home end.

    Priceless….

This reminds me that when I stood on the terraces at Vicarage Road in the 70s, away fans used to sing ‘We hate cockneys’, to which we replied ‘We hate cockneys’.

Yeah and you're a massive racist,  I don't get what your point is. If it's that we are considerably worse than Liverpool then yeah, shocking..

You think he's a massive racist? Personally I think he's probably very small with a massive insecurity complex.

  6. Tickets went on general sale last Monday-before that it was only Away Members and Home Season Ticket holders. Obviously you would expect Away Members and Season Ticket holders to be Norwich fans-but for the general sale the information on the website said that you had to have a ticket purchase history to buy one-doesn't specify if this has to be tickets for home or away games.

So presumably the Liverpool fans who got tickets for the away end had bought Norwich tickets before, or they bought them off Norwich fans-unless the ticketing system doesn't work?

This was the league cup....I can 'almost' excuse anything thats happrned in that competition in the last 25 years because of what it has become.

Although our defeat to Barnet in '97 ? was particularly bad, moreso as it was over 2 legs

More League Cup woes than FA Cup for me, seen us lose against Barnet, Brentford and Northampton, all in pretty embarrassing performances.
