  1. Just taking a good look at all the recent posts with all the ''supposition'' on who is going to be the next manager. Rumour and counter rumour...with Leicester also in the fray for a manager now...Its a right meery go round. But for what its worth...I think it''s clear it will be Allen or Parkinson...both reasonable given the current choice.
  2. Give me strength...just exactly what has he done to warrant such a post...?
  3. Thats the funniest post I have seen for ages....
  4. After watching the Rugby World Cup I cannot help but note the stark difference with the state of our Football game, particularly the national team and NCFC of course; 1. The Passion and Pride that the Rugby team showed was an example to all the overpaid underworked soccer stars. 2. The Effort, Determination and Courage was amazing...relentless, full on, for all the game. 3. Teamwork - no hiding, no sulking, no finger pointing, no recrimination...everyone pulling their weight. 4. No feigning injury...men playing a mans game, not a bunch of girlies falling over and rolling around at the slightest touch 5. No macho hawking up the contents of their lungs or emptying their nostrils every 15 seconds 6. None of the persistent foul mouthed swearing in full view of kids and the voyeuristic TV cameras. 7. No WAGS to be seen anywhere. 8. Respect for the referee!  9. Dignity in defeat. I was actually proud of them even in defeat. No excuses and no winjing from anybody (despite a very dodgy try decision)...how refreshing and admirable is that? Compare it to the excuses after a typical Norwich game or Wednesday in Russia...blame blame blame, the penalty decision, the pitch, the manager, tactics, substitutions, the pressure, the media, the kit man, the tea lady etc etc... Our soccer players, with a few exceptions, should hang their heads in shame. I am sick of watching our pampered, overpaid, lazy, egotistical, arrogant, foul mouthed, sulking, so called ''stars''. I hope they took note (if they could pull themselves away from their wags, the bar, their playsatations or the golf course). No chance of course. Enough is enough for me until things change...which I dont think they will.  I suspect thousands more will vote with their feet soon (in fact I think they already are...the empty terraces are getting larger)
  5. I feel very despondent about the future of football as we know it...some of the reasons; 1.    MegaRich benefactors using football teams as a hobby 2.   Ridiculous salaries for players who, almost inevitably, become less passionate and more interested in their lives outside football. 3.   Very little trickledown of money to lower leagues, meaning less success, less interest from supporters, lower gates, less money...ad infinitum 4.   Too many black boxes for kids, resulting in less talent, inevitably leading to lower standards in the the leagues and in the English team, meaning less success, and more apathy... I forecast a European league of the rich clubs (almost there now). The rest will play out in almost meaningless low quality leagues with only a hard core of support among the low attendances...slowly but surely to go under Its depressing, but does anybody see much hope....?
  6. Here / There we go again! Obvious managerial errors: Robinson - I know there are not many to choose from, but is it so hard to pick a keeper in form for Gods sake Left Back - its just that, not left centre back...is it so difficult? errrr...pick a left back!  Hoofball - to two midgets...need I say more Possession!!! - has Maclaren been watching NCFC? Hoof ball up field just gives possession to the opposition Maclaren and Venables?...what hope is there for England if two so called expert coaches (very well paid) can''t see the bleedin obvious What a depressing season this is turning out to be....
  7. It seems likely at the moment a quick decision is imminent for the new manager. I would advise caution and for the board to choose very carefully (not like last time). I would go for Adie...every man has his price. Young, refreshingly honest, he backs his players, his team play good football and he knows the ropes here. And our fan base and long term potential are better than Watfords (imo) 2nd choice...Parkinson...I think he got a rough deal after leaving Colchester.
  8. I don''t get this recruitment at all...our existing strikers have not had the service to get the goals (how come supporters can see this by the way, but not qualified coaches??) . We could have Torres and Owen up front but it would be no good of they; a) don''t receive the ball b) have no decent crosses to feed off (sorry Croft and Hucks, you just don''t cut it anymore) c) have no midfield to back them up. I think Hartson is unnecessary (unless he is being recruited as a hard man to shake up our apathetic players...then I am all for that). Surely what we really need are ball playing midfielders (to feet!). I have a horrible feeling this signifies a plan for more hoofball, not less.
  9. A new manger will not be a panacea for success at Norwich. The structure of our whole football system is wrong, with a Premiership elite and the gap between it and the championship getting bigger and bigger.. Italy, Spain, Germany and France show us how to do it. For each, money is paramount in football but crucially, unlike England, two divisions matter, not just one. When that is the case, the money is distributed more equitably. The stigma of relegation is less, as is the chance of clubs going bust as they chase success. There is life beyond the elite division and relegation is not the catastrophe it is for clubs dropping from our Premier League into the First Division Such achievements are made possible by the greater fluidity of the system in those countries; clubs move between the top two divisions much more regularly than here because the top flight is much more accessible to them. And, crucially, they are better able to compete once they get there because the gap in income and playing standards is smaller there. The whole of football in this country needs a shake up...
  10. Jeez are they slow or what?...12:00pm and still no news about the situation at City...I thought they won an award or something, couldn''t of been for speed of breaking news! WAKEY WAKEY!!
  11. I would like to know why the Directors cannot see what most genuine supporters see, they miss the obvious, as if they have their heads in the sand....the facts; 1.   Manager is too inexperienced and tactically inept to be a championship manager... 2.   Dressing Room has been lost, obvious from the body language and the rumours 3.   Goals (lack of) The tactic of one up front against the bottom club says all about our ability, tactics and confidence 4.   Midfield  no link up play, service dreadful to front men, just hoof and hope, hence lose possession too easily (look at the possession figures on Sky, awful) 5.   The Board - the best for last. Naive in their choice of manager and infuriating with their excuses and inaction, which brings me to where i started... I have attended board meetings in business,  i am sure some of you other posters have too. Us commoners, so privileged to be there (not) often play business bingo, whereby the first of the poor sods round the table to fill their card with meaningless director speak, so called business ''buzz'' words or phrases, is the winner. Usually no action from them , only meaningless words!! I would love to be a fly on the wall at a board meeting at NCFC, I am sure it is no different. My message is GET REAL...LISTEN TO THE FANS...whether you like it or not we know and care more about this club than you outsiders and part timers will ever know!! ITS TIME FOR CHANGE!!
  12. One question...why is it un-imaginable? I think its quite likely.
  13. Interesting posts but some missing the point...we fool ourselves, assisted by the incompetent FA and pathetically jingoistic media, that we have a world class team and almost a devine right not only to to qualify but to win a tournament. Apart from 66 & 70 (yes 37 years ago!) we have never had a team good enough of winning the world cup and no way under the current set up will we ever have. Not just because of the numpty''s in the FA, our tactically inept managers and technically inept players but because there are ,and always will be, more skillful and better equipped teams than us (Brasil, France et all). No amount of bias media coverage or tub thumping beer bellied supporters will change that. Until we have a revolution in our game that is, and sacrifice 100 mph hoofball for guile, craft, nous and skill...sadly I just cannot see that happening in my lifetime.
  14. Just to get off the suject of NCFC for a bit...I see Brooking is the latest to blame foreign talent in our game for a crap England team (btw dont they remind you of Norwich?). I suggest its more like the following; Incompetent FA choosing Naff managers (where was Cloughy, where is Hiddink) Playstations  - dont get me onto that one...do you see kids kicking a ball about the park or street anymore? All our potential young talent is going four-eyed looking at black boxes. Our teams are mentally weak (don''t get me onto penalty shoot-outs) Thatcher...cos I blame her for everything.  Any other theories...?
  15. Never mind the quality feel the width? (not that we have much of either at the moment!). Our squad seems just too big by far (hence expensive) at +30 including 6 keepers! It would seem that we are sacrificing quality for numbers. Me thinks we could do with some pruning and ridding of dead wood...suggestions welcome.
  16. I think we have missed a chance to be equal top and imagine what that would have done for confidence...a belief and and a momentum builds up. We could and should have beaten Preston, Hull and Cardiff, all quite ordinary teams. Conversely I suggest we should have only got a point from a better Southampton. However, if results had gone as they should, by my reckoning we should now be equal top on 10 points. By wasting these chances both the team and supporters lose confidence...look at yeterdays second half and the subsequent posts for evidence. We cannot kill teams off when we should be doing so and are starting to look very ordinary. I sense supporters have little patience left and gates will start to dwindle if this continues. The slide into mediocrity is worrying and depressing...
  17. His agent is Norwich based, or used to be anyway. But no way! I met him in a bar near Manchester and he did not have nice things to say about Norwich...so let him rot somewhere else.
  18. For once i agree with 1st wizard...the guy has hardly laced his boots for us yet and you are asking if he would go...?!
  19. During the Championshp round up today on ITV the thing that struck me most was all the empty seats at the grounds, especially at Stoke. I really hope we don''t become mid table mediocrity again like last year or I fear the worst...
  20. Solid defense, biting midfield, and good holding game up front...but we missed a good ball threader from midfield to attack, hence too many floaters to Dion and Brown. Hopefully it will improve when Hucks, Smith and Cureton get in...with them I think we might have won. Was impressed with Russell...but not with the ref! And as usual a great turnout by the Canary faithful.
  21. Spot on NC...I agree with just about everything you wrote there. Particularly agree with the lack of confidence going forward. Preston looked nervous at the back at times and I think we could have got a goal if we had been more adventurous. Particularly annoyed at Brellier getting into good overlap position, only to check back instead of whipping the ball in when their defence was on the back foot. But a solid start...and a great turnout by the supporters considering the distance.
  22. More or less reasonable ratings...but I disagree with you on the Doc. He had a good game. And I think Dublin was better than a 6.5. For me Rusty was the best performer and Brown did a good job up front.
  23. BDCSid... Regarding some of the criticism, I doubt anyone who was not around in the 70''s will understand. It was a cultural aspect of the times as much as anything. I don''t condone it, especially to those who dont understand, but it was as much a part of the football day then as the game itself. I do know that the atmosphere at grounds now (apart from Liverpool perhaps) is absolutely nothing like it was then, and thats a shame for the new age supporters...maybe thats why they criticise so much?
