  1. Back in the dim and distant when we were sponsored by Fosters we (unsurprisingly, I suppose) had a kangaroo as a mascot. Thing is I cant remember what the things name was. Anyone?
  2. Will he miss the Final because of his injury? I don''t think the quality of the game will suffer if he does Great news Marshall will make the Final, he will be able to reproduce his trademark gaffes in front of a worldwide audience of millions Also, Millwall may be have a problem entering the UEFA Cup next season because Wise doesn''t have the necessary coaching badges. I know NW took some of his coaching badges a couple of years ago but does anyone know if he has the necessary qualifications at the moment to allow us to play in the UEFA Cup the season after next (probably through the Fair Play system, of course)? Just thought we had better plan ahead.
  3. Fair enough, you got me Tumbleweed. I fell into that one quicker than Pires in the penalty area. I am a big fan of Svens though and hopefully we will retain the current formation until the end of the season as I think it favours him.
  4. With all respect Tumbleweed, you are wrong Svens worked damn hard on Saturday and has proving in the media that his biggest critic is himself. Also, he scored three, the third being a diving header ruled offside. If the reception he got from the away support when he was substituted was anything to go by it is fair to say we were well satisfied with his efforts. Svens is just running into form and the Wigan defence minus Matt Jackson will have their hands full. I doubt Flecky would have scored Svens second but might have done a decent job in the National.
  5. Svens proved what he is capable of on Saturday. Hopefully the same from him on Friday will shut the boo boys and girls up for good. As other posters have pointed out it was a case of regaining fitness, remember too that he has had a leg operation and these things take time to mend properly. I honestly never thought that we were in danger of dropping points at any stage and the boys did the necessary in the second half. Burnley''s defending was so bad they could benefit from signing George Santos Svens second goal must make it on to the shortlist for NCFC goal of the season (is there such an award?) with Hucks and Drury''s contribution to it outstanding. The fans were superb again and the atmosphere after final whistle remnded me of the same scenes at Portaloo in December. I was told to expect a cauldron of an atmosphere but the home fans provided no better than a leaky stew pot. I may have missed a post on another thread but does anyone else agree that the refereeing was average at best with the vast majority of decisions going in Burnley''s favour. In light of this it was an exceptional second half performance. By the way, well done to Colin and his lads for keeping up their own special brand of pressure on us Promotion = 17/04/04
  6. The architect''s drawing on this site does not show where the River End and infill meet but does seem to show the infill as level in height with the South stand. I agree though that it may look odd if that is the case and assume that these clever architect types have thought of the problem
  7. Aprils Fools Day really does bring out the jokers I can''t wait for next year...
  8. Would anyone here realistically want the Binners to go out of business? For me that would be a disappointment. A world without our mockney friends would be very different. Aside from the obvious amusement we all get from BFJ''s blundering and Sheepshank''s lack of business nous south of the border, who would we direct our bile and sarcasm at? The derby matches themselves are great occasions and helps create legends (Leon, for instance). And to be honest, who else would employ George Santos? Every football club needs its rivals and it would leave a gap in our lives if the donkeys were put out their misery
  9. Whilst I welcome the decision to go ahead with the infill especially the great new facilities for disabled fans, £3m seems a lot of money for just 1600 new seats. I don''t want to criticise the board who are doing great things within tight constraints but I would be interested to know why when they are prepared to spend £3m on the infill they have not proceeded with the south stand upper tier. We are all too aware of the difficulty in obtaining casual/season tickets and I would imagine satisfying this demand accompanied by the resulting increase in revenue would be the major aim of the board. I applaud the board''s ambition and understand their hesitation for expanding the capacity with the possibility of an immediate return from the Prem but with around 1600 fans on the season ticket waiting list and a reputed database of 40,000 interested names I feel that the £3m may have been put to better use. I am not trying to have a pop at the board because as I mentioned earlier they do a tremendous job and are fine people but with promotion looming it may be time to speculate on greater returns and then, when the time comes, we can afford the next Huckerby. 10. Im sure we will get three points on Saturday. The boys just need to go out in a positive manner and keep the ball on the deck. I would like to see Leon start as he is looking hungry at the moment
  11. Good point made by this thread. According to the website we have only sold half the tickets for the Burnley game which, after the huge number of fans at Palace is disappointing. I realise that there is a long journey involved and some can''t make it every weekend but we are on the cusp of something great here and imagined it would be tough getting tickets for any game. After the problems some have had getting tickets for Watford am I the only one who is concerned when the London games sell out first and the northern games struggle to do likewise. I am not saying those posting here won''t be travelling to Burnley as well but for me there is no difference between Palace, Watford or Burnley as the boys deserve our support wherever they are and if you can travel you should and not be selective.
  12. Its amazing how just 90 minutes in any week can affect your life. All season its been a case of looking forward to the next weekend and the next game. More often than not I go back to my "normal" life buzzing. In the last couple of weeks after the Cardiff and Palace games I have been a bit down. I realise now that was because I was nervous about promotion. Im not nervous for the boys and us anymore because I KNOW they will do it and Im ready for whatever the rest of the season has in store. Being new on this messageboard I can see there are a lot of other people going through the same emotions and feeling the same things, Im glad Im not alone in that Im proud to be a Norwich fan Im proud to be from Norwich Im proud to be able to go to Carrow Road and be part the amazing atmosphere Life for is great at the moment but even when the going gets tougher I know I will still feel the same. No more doubt just confidence, loyalty and belief. CITY TIL I DIE.
  13. I thought Riley had a shocker on Saturday. There was no way 10 players should have been booked. Perhaps he is a fair example of Premiership refereeing but Jeff Winter had a decent game when we were at Cardiff the other week as he let the game flow, not blowing up for any old thing and immediately producing a card like Wiley Riley. What does anyone else think?
  14. I agree with Gazza - we haven''t seen the best of Sven yet and probably won''t now until next season. He is a Swedish international so the potential is certainly there but he has had an operation already this year so cannot be judged until he is 100% fit Keep up the support!!!!
  15. Agreed. Bumped into Delia at full time in Pride Park after the boys had stopped the bleating of the sheep. It was bitterly cold yet she was more than happy to have a chat with us. Her appearance after the final whistle at Portaloo Rd was a nice touch too We are exceptionally lucky to have someone like that on board.
  16. Making this statement I think NW is trying to calm the fans nerves while building up the players morale at the same time. It is a little concerning that he hasn''t brought any defensive cover in on loan though
