I agree. Shane is an excellent striker. He''s quick and skilful and can play as a solo striker, if need be. RVW, Hooper, Long. Sell Becchio. Buy a #10 and a central defender. Job done. Get to work ..... under 4 hours to go...

Since Redmond has such pace and is unpredictably explosive on the wing and Pilks is great with both feet and has good tactical nous, why not put Pilks in the hole behind Wolf and Redmond out wide? Plus, after watching Fer so far, he looks better in CM than in the number 10 role. So: RuddyWhittaker Martin Bassong Olsson Fer Howson Snodgrass Pilkington Redmond van WolfswinkelI know there will be moaners about Wes not being in there. But I guess I look at Wes as a player who helps us avoid relegation but not the player who leads us into the top 10. And Pilks is better defensively when we need to shift to 4-5-1. I think the team above has real attacking intent while being able to be solid when needed.Dont think Hoots will put that team out though....

Hello all. Apologies if this has been discussed already.Just imagining the conversations the Board and CH were having this summer. Talking about what their new goals should be and how to get there. Now that the club had freed itself of debt and had managed two mid-table finishes, how do we push on? Surely any Champions League aspirations are too far afield but to get into the Top 10 consistently must be a goal. And if they looked at clubs they could look to emulate, football-wise, maybe Everton was the club that most exemplifies a standard that could be our "next achievable goal".So it would stand to reason that many of the players we''ve been associated with this summer have also been mentioned as potential targets for Everton. Leroy Fer. Arouna Kone was a target for both club if you believe the press. I think there was some talk of Redmond interesting Martinez. And Alderweireld was rumoured to be interesting both Merseyside clubs. I dont think the list stops there....I''m sure there were more....I just dont remember. If true, seems like a clever target by the Board. Its a lofty goal to be consistently between 5th and 8th but surely its something for us to shoot for on the backs of what we''ve accomplished over the past few years. Plus, I''d have to say we''re better positioned financially than Everton at this point.So....next stop...we''re trying to be Everton.Thoughts?
Has gone to Forest for around £1m, I know we have plenty of midfielders, but what a price that is.
Agreed. Thought he was class, had an eye for a pass and he''s always bossed the game when he played for the U-21s. Has real potential and, at that price, would have easily been a good bit of business....someone would buy him for a fair few million in a few years if we didn''t want to keep him....

Who's the new Striker going to be?
nycanary replied to Dibs's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I HOPE so. I know we need to fix up our defence and I we''ve put enough effort into that with the signings we''ve got but honestly, if we dont score goals, it doesn''t matter how good our defence is. last season we had a more adventurous attacking approach that gave us goals. Its clear we are not going to do that this year given everything CH says about a solid defence. So...goals dont look likely if we''re playing 5 in midfield and not allowing the wingers and one of the midfield 3 to really support holty.Need another striker. Need another striker. CH, Go find us a Papiss Cisse. Quick. -
Anyone else jealous of Swansea?
nycanary replied to Morisons Prozac's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
To be fair, I am JEALOUS of the fact that Swansea were able to sign someone like Michu. It was a price that we could afford. And basically, I''m hoping our scouting team can find us a few of those. So yes...call me jealous! -
Sorry, did somebody say Vaughan is better than Agbonlahor if he stays fit. You must be kidding me. I would take a swap between Holt and Agbonlahor anyday of the week. Agbonlahor is just as good out wide as he is down the middle and on his day when he is on form he is unplayable. Very much a confidence player who needs managing correctly. You may see a much improved player now that Lambert is there.
Yah, I''m with Yellow Green Army on this. I would take Agbonlahor. But I doubt Lambert will let him go...he''s likely to believe he can get the best out of him and give him more freedom. Bent in the middle and Agbon and Albrighton/N''Zogbia on either side. Its not half bad.Still, enough about them. I would take Gabby all day.

There''s news of Holty going to Villa and then Agbonlahor moving on (maybe to Sunderland). But...if we are to lose Holt, I dont think I would say no to a Grant for Gaby swap....suppose we might not be able to afford his wages but would people take that swap?Thought Agbon has been hit or miss but he did really put the squeeze on us when we played at Villa Park last season. Very impressive player and on the fringes of the England team for a while....

How do his teams play? Newcastle and Brum.....are they Sam Allardyce/Alex McLeish boring teams? Or Lambert/Rodgers/Redknapp passing/exciting teams? And on that note, how about Chris Burke? He''s quite good, isn''t he? Maybe he would come with Hughton?

Thanks for all the support, all! It looks like someone from the board is probably going to help out a fellow fan and will try to get me tickets for the match. I cannot wait. Those of us who don''t see matches apart from on the telly really treasure the times we can make it to Carrow Road. Last year''s match vs Leicester was such a treat. As for Mungo, it seems to me that he''s either:a. A complete and utter twat with the moral compass of a rabid dog. Also votes BNP.b. A sad, lonely, pathetic person whose only method of getting attention is via pointless drivel of the type he keeps shovelling at us on this board.Bring on Villa!

Hey all, Not sure this is the right forum for this but.....am going to be in the UK around Xmas and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to come see Norwich play Spurs but of course I have no tickets.Would anyone be willing to sell me theirs (2 tickets)? Maybe some people are out of town etc....Please PM me if you can help. Have supported the club for 30+ years and have only been to Carrow Road once (last season''s 4-3 win over Leicester). Dont want to miss the chance to see our boys this season! Thanks

Just read that Stuart Attwell is this weekend''s ref and its his FIRST time referring at Old Trafford. Newly vulnerable to the United faithful.....

i did watch the game. it was on here in the states (and the stoke one is live too!). our defence did look pretty rough. martin, who we all know was incredible last season, was really run ragged by moses down that side. crofts came back to help quite often but it was still tough going. i would definitely make that change and bring in naughton.honestly, i''ve always felt like whitbread is slow and that showed again against wigan. definitely bring in barnett. i think zak makes better decisions while barnett is faster and i feel the net net of that is that barnett should get the nod. its too soon for ayala. who knows if he''s had a significant pre-season....its going to take time.i would also replace surman with bennett. surman is also too slow and when you look at the diamond formation, the two sides of it also need a bit of speed to get up and down...support the attack on one end and back up the fullbacks on the other. i thought morison was excellent and he did outshine holty too! the only other possibility would be that against the rougher stoke boys, we play bradley johnson instead of surman or crofts. but i dont know if PL will make that many changes in one week. he needs some continuity.so....ruddynaughtonde laetbarnetttierneyfoxcroftsbennett/johnsonhoolahanholtmorison
For me in Canada, Canaries world is an essential service due to the commentary alone, which makes it worth 35 quid before you even get to the interviews or highlights. However it is not without it''s faults. The commentary can sometimes be a bit choppy or cut in and out during a match (this is rare but does happen) and the log in process for me is also the most stupid thing ever. It remembers my credentials and keeps me logged in, however whenever i go to watch a new video and press play it will not play till I have signed out of canaries player, clicked player on the video and prompts me to re-enter my credentials. Another problem is it does not play nice with any mobile phone''s that do not support flash, so you have to be quite creative to get it working on any non flash supported devices. So like all the other posters have said above, you will have to weigh up the pros and cons, if you are within radio norfolk listening distance or attend most games, it''s probably not worth it what with the sky coverage we will receive this season, but if you are an expat like me, it''s worth every penny.
I could not agree more, M_C!!!Its a necessity for us living abroad. Almost as important as oxygen. But the service has some serious problems and I have the exact same things happen to me that M_C does.Better than nothing, though....for sure. Those extended highlights from some of last year''s matches were an absolute god-send.

Not sure if there''s a thread out there on this already but I''m wondering if people can post the articles they are reading about our promotion. I love reading the journos take on how we managed to do it and how amazing the team is. I think we all saw the BBC Paul Fletcher blog.http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/2011/05/norwich.htmlWhat are other people seeing?

agree with a lot of the recent posts. this is a different mgmt team to the one worthy had back then. and i think its going to be just brilliant that we''re going to see a fearless approach from lambert''s men next season vs what we''ve had in the past.i think there''s another thread on what we need going on today that speaks to exactly what players we need. my guess is 6 or so new signings. for me 2 in starting positions (striker and center back) and 2 pushing hard for starting places (to compete with fox/crofts and surman/hoolahan) and a couple of backups (ruddy and russell martin). with those signings, i''m hoping we''re good as the one thing we have that is up there with any team in the entire country is work ethic and team spirit.already cant wait for next season. am going to have to fly over from the states to carrow road to watch a match or two!!

Lots of talk about new players but.........
nycanary replied to Haggerdoo's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Interesting stuff. Would agree we need 6-8.a. back up goalieb. right back to compete with russell. may even beat out martin for first team spotc. a starting center-back. i dont think whitbread is up for it. barnett may well be but i would go get another good one. its important to have two solid CBs if we''re going to have attacking full backs.d. a quality striker to start with holty. jackson and chrissy martin to be on benche. a tough tackling, hard working midfielder to back up both fox and croftsf. a quality attacking midfielder (maybe lansbury but i would def be open to others) to challenge surman and hoolahang. a traditional out and out winger to replace mcnamee and allow us to switch to 4-4-2 as needed.lets assume we dont pick up much money selling the rest (maybe a million). then i think we''re looking at spending maybe 10-12 million pounds to do this right......but who knows...could be a lot less given lambert''s nous for spotting talent. -
Typical, isn''t it. Have an opinion that''s not popular and everyone has a go.I bet we all thought the 2004 promoted team with Hucks were going to do just fine in the Prem, right? If they were good enough to win the Championship, they''re good enough to stay in the Prem. Sound familiar? Guess we were ALL wrong - myself included. I LOVE the current team. And this has been my favorite season as a supporter since I started following the club in 1979. And it would be simply brilliant if they can stay in the Prem. But I just have to say that if everyone here was looking at a club other than Norwich getting promoted twice in a row and were to critically evaluate the squad, the responses would be slightly different from the rose-tinted ones I''m seeing here. That doesn''t mean I don''t love the club, squad or the manager any less than any of you.
