  1. I agree - It should go it alone as a subcription service channel 👍 People who choose not to watch or listen to the BBC should not pay for it.
  2. These people could be running the country next year 🤪
  3. Why I am happier now we have left the EU AUGUST 2, 2023 The worst job I was given in government was the UK’s single market Minister. I held it at the time of maximum activity, with the EU claiming it needed to hurry through a substantial number of new laws to complete the so called single market programme for 1992. They wished to regulate so many different sectors and activities in the name of freer trade. I found myself in disagreement with the underlying theory. You do not need to standardise everything to have a successful market. You do not need to lay down required methods or standards for every good and service to be offered for sale. It seemed as if the single market was being used as an excuse for a large expansion of EU power. The EU believed in the doctrine of the occupied field. Starting from a position where member states made their own laws and enforced their own justice, the EU wished to get to the point where the EU made most of the laws and had superior powers to national legislatures to impose and enforce their preferred ways of doing things. If the EU could get any directive or regulation agreed for a new sector or area, however weak or general, it could then go on to more detailed legislation on the grounds that it had already established its competence in the chosen area. The EU also practised code based law where they wished to set out in detail what you could do rather than the common law approach where you could do as you wish subject to specific bans or general duties to act safely, responsibly etc. To me a single market just required the enforcement of a rule their court had already established in the cassis de Dijon case. If a product was offered for sale and was of merchandisable quality in one country in the EEC then it could be offered for sale in another without further regulation or checking. Labelling would tell customers sufficient so they could make their own decisions about whether they wanted to buy a product from another country. I found the EU was hectoring and bullying if you objected to their legislative proposals. Meetings were always being pressured to pass more laws, whether the laws made sense or were good or not. I had to spend a lot of time trying to build blocking groups of countries against draft laws which I thought particularly damaging or needless. It was never ending work as the Commission and rotating Presidencies were merciless in wanting to get laws through in bulk. When I protested that people would not want an extra law on a topic the reply usually disparaged the people, as they did not approach lawmaking in a democratic way. Now we are out we can refine our common law system which is more useful to the rest of the world than the EU code system. It is very disappointing that so many people in the UK governing establishment are unable or unwilling to grasp and use our new freedoms, but great to know we can if we wish. The EU still wants to treat us as a naughty member who needs to obey their rules. The UK government needs to move on from the misery of compliance rows over their spiders web of controls. Time to use and enjoy our freedoms. John Redwood Disappointing indeed and proof that those in high office are pro-EU..
  4. If the BBC upsets everybody, why do you Lefties insist on defending it?
  5. See, this is why I struggle to take people like yourself seriously - You're not as bad as Herman who actually believes the BBC are pro-conservative 🤪 The BBC's Lefty bias is common knowledge now - its left-wing institutional bias is self-evident - I could post content in the form of articles/studies that prove the BBC's Lefty bias and you could post articles/studies stating the opposite.. The majority of British people with political nous know the BBC is Lefty bias.
  6. Cheers, Herman, just choked on my Hawkstone reading that...
  7. And it would appear that Jools has been residing rent free in your tiny head ever since 😀
  8. Brexit? https://www.euronews.com/2023/08/08/european-stocks-plunge-as-italy-hits-banks-profits-with-40-windfall-tax
  9. You are correct - Here's a cookie:
  10. Listening to Blur's new album and it's very Bowie-esqe -- Especially 'St. Charles Square' which wouldn't be out of place on 'Scary Monsters'...
  11. Really though? Last year we had 1.2 million immigrants, the largest number for any year in all of history -- There were 3,057,654 visas granted for the twelve months to March '23, of which only about half were visitor visas. The rest are associated with a right to abide. Only 557,000 people emigrated from UK last year. More people have immigrated to the UK in the last twenty years than came in the preceding two thousand years. So how many is too many in your estimation?
  12. Nay, he took us even further into the Net Zero b0ll0cks. To appease his socialist wife no doubt 😉
  13. Oh, whilst you're here, Grandpops, I understand you're a resident of Redruth - could you please nip down to Plymouth to verify if the following is correct: Thanks in advance 🙃
  14. You should read more of my content here, Grandpapa and you will learn that I'm hardly enamoured with the current day cons.
  15. Wrong again, Herman -- People in their droves are finally witnessing what I picked up on years ago and that is the fact that the BBC is a Lefty propaganda unit that would be hard pushed to survive without the license fee. People are far from thick for not wanting to be forced to pay a license fee for Lefty bias News. People are not thick for not wanting to be forced to pay a license fee for not wanting history rewritten in order to provide a falsified image of the past in historical dramas. People are not thick for not wanting to be forced to pay a license fee for not wanting classic radio and TV shows such as Dad's Army and Steptoe And Son being edited due to episodes being seen as politically incorrect, sexist or racially insensitive to modern taste... The list goes on. The woke BBC isn't giving audiences what they want and it should be subscription service only, such as SKY, Netflix, Amazon etc.. The license fee should be ditched.
  16. The Bolshevic B*llsh*t Corporation is haemorrhaging viewers, grandpapa - A record 2.84 million people are refusing to pay the licence fee - up by 360,000 on the previous year and only one in 20 people under the age of 30 watches BBC TV live - a demographic timebomb for the Corporation... Why do you think that is?
  17. Akin to debating with a 12 year old isn't it... In a reply to him in a previous post I stated that Boris's ULEZ proposal covered just 8 square miles, whereas Khan introduced ULEZ in 2019 and his proposal covers 600 square miles.. As per Herman completely ignored it and even went on to argue with you who has also stated factual information. Anyhow, time for more Labour comedy -- The chap dressed as a zombie (Alistair Strathern) in the following video is standing as Labour’s candidate in Mid Bedfordshire: God help us.
  18. This photograph of Ofcom’s palatial Head Office by the Thames was taken at 1005 today. If you look closely at the top right of the building you can see the Cadwalladr Meeting Room where London Labour Party supporting, Ofcom apparatchiks are in crisis talks over the increasing popularity of GBNews and the steep decline of the BBC. The antennae on the roof of the building will be used to block transmissions by selected TV and radio broadcasters 🙃
  19. Rightwing policies and the scrapping of Blair's 1998 HRA would help control immigation, but the elected government is completely powerless to implement anything that the Leftist civil service, activist judiciary and quango networks don't support. This means that it is pretty much impossible for anything regarded as right-of-centre to get through. There is no prospect of this changing because it would require a united Rightwing majority government with an iron will to effect the necessary reforms. Our impotent government is neither Rightwing nor united. Lefty policies won't fix uncontrolled immigration -- In fact they are the causation.
  20. Longtime member of the Labour Party who defected to the cons because the former had gone too far Left... Hardly an NF scumbag.. As Alex Chalk stated this morning: "“Lee Anderson expresses the righteous indignation of the majority of British people." - Which is the case, but don't you worry your little cotton socks, Hermione -- Anderson's merely a mouthpiece put forward to appease members & voters - People want action, not words... Nothing will be done.
