Juggy 0 Posted July 26, 2013 Can remember us being linked with this player. Decent player as well.Has just joined Forest for only £1m! If Hooper is being signed as our number 10 as some others are suggesting (and therefore officially ends our interest in Quags and Maxi Lopez), then I''d have thought Mackie would have been a decent low cost option as a third/fourth striker? Forest have got themselves a real bargain there.
Tetteys Jig 851 Posted July 26, 2013 I don''t think the door is closed on the Quag deal by any means and if that''s the calibre of player we''re looking to be the link up man, i think Mackie simply isn''t good enough. I agree though, useful player.

If on the other hand we aren''t. and it is just the case of a bit of strength in depth.... then Mackie would definitely be preferable to Ashley Barnes! I don''t think QPR have a clue what they are doing. Mackie scored a lot of goals for them in the Championship, they will end up with some other 33 year old journeyman with dodgy knees. Should be signing more players like Hill, Derry and Mackie, and money-grabbing mercenaries.

crabbycanary 2 Posted July 26, 2013 Bit of a surprise, as I thought he was one of the fans favourites, not one of the egos, not one of the biggest earners (no idea if that is true of course) and also he will be very useful in the Championship.

They do all love Jamie Mackie, and since being well and truly humbled (and therefore not fun to troll anymore) they have been saying that they want young players who really want to play for QPR. They always hold Mackie up as an example of the type of player they should be signing. They remind me of Ipswich of a couple of years ago with the Bowyers and the Bullards. Wouldn''t surprise me to see them really struggle and eventually end up in administration. Fernandes came out and said that the club had to change their transfer policy, even blocking the signing of Wayne Bridge. Then they turn around and sign Richard Dunne who has hardly played for 18 months.Hooper had the sense to avoid that club. I doubt he was even completely against signing for a Championship club, but if you had to choose one then QPR would be one to avoid.Reading would be a much more sensible club for somebody to join, certainly more likely to get promoted again this season. Norfolk Mustard 106 Posted July 26, 2013 Mackie for just £1m is a superb purchase. I too, thought he would have made a good signing here...
AJ 1,359 Posted July 26, 2013 At 27, 1 million (unless there''s loads of attachments) is a fantastic deal for Forrest! Not a huge amount in terms of his goalscoring ability, but he''s very creative and could have done well here. I wouldn''t have minded him coming here in January, I do think on par with Hoops, RVW and Fer, we could probably do a bit better than Mackie.
