Canary_Shores 3 Posted July 17, 2012 Is it me or has rusty become the team spokesman lately, it seems every second article is his opinion on something. Either he had one long interview and archangel are feeding it out piecemeal or he is having a love in with a journo?
Salopian 1 Posted July 17, 2012 He''s been that for some time, and no surprise - he''s intelligent, articulate and committed. I suspect, however, that in future we may see more of Howson. He has played 13? games, struggling with match fitness at first, but now he is approached fairly regularly. Some see him as a future captain, and I can understand why. Does any know whether the player interviewed is entirely slected by the club, or do reporters suggest whom they would like to interview?
Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,486 Posted July 17, 2012
Does any know whether the player interviewed is entirely slected by the club, or do reporters suggest whom they would like to interview?
If you look at the two most recent pieces one is an ''interview'' with the Official Canaries website - so entirely stage managed and I wouldn''t be surprised if Russell wasn''t even there for it. The other is for a Scottish Newspaper. All interview requests have to be made to the club and they choose whether they will allow the player to be interviewed or not, obviously clubs trust some players more than others. Post match interviews are generally by a player the club have told to go and speak to everyone - although UEFA and FIFA games now have this ''mix-zone'' where all the players will pass through. Every club has a varying policy on player interviews, some are very relaxed about it and others jealously guard their players - for example Arsenal banned RVP from speaking to any media throughout the Euros in the summer. As Russell seems a fairly sensible chap, and there isn''t any major story surrounding him at the moment NCFC would be perfectly happy for to speak to people - especially as with the Scottish interview in his capacity for the Crones and Colitis people. AJ 1,377 Posted July 17, 2012 Obviously Martin was Club Captain at one point, and never really seemed to drop that role in terms of media exposure. I don''t mind that though, he''s sensible and well composed. I don''t mind listening to/reading what he has to say
AndyCanary 0 Posted July 17, 2012 He''s got a reputation for being good with the press. I guess he doesn''t mind talking to them so it''s mutually beneficial for all parties. The question is: Is he providing extra insight? or is he taking the place of someone else?
