So far, so good or better..

Recommended Posts

Only the most jaundiced could possibly say that the signings are not good - Whittaker, with two good feet, a long experience in the outstanding Rangers team of recent times, a good long range shot and a good tackle, and Butterfield rapidly improving, captain at 22, and a target for several other Premiership teams. In both cases there is also versatility.

We have obtained these two players with little dent in the transfer budget, and even if the Tribunal requires us to pay £2m, there will be plenty left. I hope that when CH and his staff turn to consider further signings, as they probably have already, they will consider two or three more expensive signings - above all a striker with a decent record of goals, and then a specialist CB and LB. (I am being pessimistic over the continuous availability of both Tierney and Vaughan.)

So, as far as I am concerned, it''s an impressive start. (I am particularly pleased that Butterfield chose NC because of the several conversations he had with CH, and the plans of the club.) It seems to me that we have two more talented players and a very good manager. This gives me confidence that eventually we shall have a much stronger squad, and that we shall enjoy another good year in the Premiership.

I''d have thought fans suffering from Jaundice would be the most yellow fans we have..

QFT. Hughton has done a brilliant job so far and as you say it''s so far so good or better!

This is only the start. Hughton can do his job, and we have to have faith and support to him and the team!

Sadly, this thread may be gunned down by BW and Co, so prepare yourself...

I agree with all of this. It''s interesting to hear Butterfield talking about how CH sold him on the club and it''s plans. Mr Hughton seems a proper professional who expresses himself well (never Lambert''s strong point for all his other good points. With Holt on board again, I''m feeling very confident about the new season and onwards and upwards. OTBC!

I said this in the "Still a striker/forward light" thread, but I personally don''t think we need a striker as we didn''t have problem scoring goals last season... remember we signed 2 strikers last summer and they are both still on our books. if Vaughan is injured still or Chris Martin is sold, then only at that point should we bring someone in.Priorities for me are:LB - obviously no cover here & question marks about tierneys fitnessDM - I feel this is where we should spend big... main reason we had defensive probs last season imho is that we don''t have a Makelele type playerWings - no cover for Pilks/BennettMy other priority was AM as fealt we need competition for Wes, but looks like Butterfield is that man. Personally don''t think we need a CB - Ayala & Bennett will be like new signings for us. If one of our CBs left (e.g. Barnett), I''d like to see us to spend money & replace with better than what we have, but on the flip side I''d be happy to go with what we''ve got.
