Paul Lambert

A lot of people say Lambert will leave soon, tbh it''s all about whether he is here when we expand the stadium I think, if he is, I can see him being here for many years to come because then that will be the next level where having that 35,00 seater stadium will mean we can attract bigger and better players surely? Or will it mean that we would be in debt and still have that problem of attracting bigger players? Maybe I''m wrong but having that stadium and being in the premier league in two years is vital if we really wan''t to kick on and become a real force in this league, not expanding will mean the club is not moving forwards.

What do people think?

I think you didn''t need to start a completely new thread on the same subject.

2012/13 is a huge, huge season for the club -aren''t they all now?- but, providing we can survive again (all and sundry will be writing us off over the Summer) then the very great majority of the old debt will be paid off-that, plus, at least one more season of Prem football and parachute payments for three years will likely decide the destiny of the stadium expansion. New debt of course, hence it being crucial to stay put in order to pay it off ASAP-so hence associated player and football investment needing to match that need and very visible ambition.

That would, I am sure, be a great attraction to PL -in terms of what we can achieve as well as the sort of players who might want to come here-it all depends on how long he is prepared to wait for all this hypothetical stuff to become a reality. I guess the intent of the club as regards the immediate future will become clearer over the coming weeks, am looking forward to seeing it manifest.

The thing is, if the club expand the stadium, we''re pretty much tied into doing things as they are now for at least the next 5, probably more, years.  So that''s 5 years of being the 18th richest club in the league.  5 years of finding the best young lower league talent and turning them into Premiership quality players.  As a fan I''d be happy to watch that - but it will be about survival / becoming an Everton / Fulham level of club.  It won''t be about winning things.  For example, the FA Cup has been dominated by the big clubs since 1987, with the exception of Portsmouth.  Lambert is obviously ambitious, I''d imagine he would like to win things.  But then Mark Hughes probably sees himself as a prospective top 6 manager, as does David Moyes, the big jobs don''t turn up too often, and when they do, well, look at Di Matteo at Chelsea.  It''s all down to how far he can take Norwich - as he already said.

If I was PL I would stay in my comfort zone for quite a while yet. He won''t be subject to our wages restrictions surely and one day even Manure might come along. Little step ups like Villa would be a risk too far and Mike Walker hasn''t been the only manager in the game who has  fouled up by going for bigger things. There are dozens and dozens.

If he''s happy with his Norfolk lifestyle and the esteem with which he is held at NCFC, then why  jump into a potential problem job?

I am probably the unambitious sort.
