Pubs with Sky Sports near the ground

Recommended Posts

I meet my grandad for home games and originally we use to go to Squares to watch the early Premiership match on TV before going to the game.  When Squares closed we started going to the Players Lounge at the club, it also suited my grandad better as he didn''t have to walk so far.  Now that the Players Lounge has closed, we need to find somewhere else to go, especially with Liverpool v Man Utd being the early game this Saturday.I just wondered whether anyone had any suggestions close to the ground?  It can''t really be up in the City as it''s too far for my grandad to walk (he still swears like a youngster, but isn''t so good on his feet)!  Does the Holiday Inn have Sky?  Yellows? Thanks in advance.

There are probably pubs/bars closer to the ground, and it does get very busy, but I''d recommend the Coach and Horses up on Thorpe Rd behind the train station - great beer, friendly atmosphere and less than 10 min walk to the back of the Barclay..

Matt, I didn''t know the Players Lounge had closed. Pity that as you could get a fairly hassle-free drink in there.I think you''ll be lucky to find a pub close to the ground. I think the nearest one - which is pretty empty - would be the Ketts Tavern at the bottom of Ketts Hill. They do food in there and the beers good too but it''s a good 20 min walk to Carrow Road so would probably be out of range. The heaving Coach & Horses sounds your best bet unless you want to pull you hats down and sneak into the Compleat Angler. It probably won''t be quite as crushed as the Coach.Have you tried the Supporters Club place on Rosary Road ? It''ll cost something to join and I''ve no idea if they have Sky but it might be worth a try.

[quote user="ncfcstar"]The Holiday Inn does have Sky, even in 3D if you fancy it.

Not forgetting 3D bar prices too. Try the Musterd pot

The Rose Tavern, The Freemason''s Arms, and The Kings Arms all have a method of showing the matches be it Sky or European.

If you''re up there you just have to wander down Carrow Hill. Not sure if your Grandad would be ok with that but all three are decent pubs and you get to the ground within 15 minutes.
