Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted February 23, 2010 We all like to speculate on formations and who should be in or out of the team but a few things are for sure regarding Lambert. He will not publicly criticise any of his players. He will not rush to change or drop players. He will seek to emphasise the positives. The net result of all this is that his players totally respect him and however poorly they play (as a few did tonight) they will burst a gut with effort because they would run through a brick wall for Lambert. This is what we have got as a manager, like it or lump it, and he is avoiding making a rod for his own back making multiple changes like Roeder did or having obvious favourites. He gets to see the training and perhaps Hughes has failed to impress so hasn''t got a game until recently but he told Radio Norfolk the lads who cane in did well. He isn''t deluded, he treats his players with respect publicly. The fact is he is probably a different animal privately but who knows?I heard Culverhouse openly encouraging ''the lads'' all game tonight too. Recent coaches have slung four letter word abuse at the players, but he is there to support and encourage. The players are playing for him and Lambert.Lambert was kicking every ball tonight, appealing for every throw in and on occasions was like a ball boy on speed. The players see this and it''s infectious. So, we can speculate all we like but Lambert will carry on in his own way and that is something us ranters all need to be quietly grateful for. John 0 Posted February 24, 2010 I''m kind of getting on my own nerves tonight with my own bitterness and concerns, but while i agree to an extent with certain aspects of his management as highlighted by the OP, i feel the man has shown to have some flaws in regards to the handling of certain difficult situations.Primarily this is referring to how he performs infront of the media during some relative degree of adversity, namely in our recent defeats and below par performances. As we continue to churn out the kind of performances on the pitch that we have of recent, he has begun to constantly refer back to past achievements all too often for my liking, followed by a lauding of praises upon the players despite having been completely played off the park by another team on that particular occasion, with some serious fundamental problems on the pitch clearly evident on the day. This praise has obviously come from a great achievement in itself, by pushing this team to the top of the table, no one could begin to deny that of course. But i would only be so relieved if he was to adhere to what he preaches to us, the team, and the club, by implying that as we go on we should only look at whats directly infront of us, and neither back with appreciation for who or what that has brought us to where we are, nor too far forward.Failiure to do this has resulted, in my mind, with the all too premature glorifying of the side so far this year, seemingly almost lulling the players into a very unhealthy false sense of security. With every defeat or bad performance i''d like to hear of Lamberts passion and determination to do everything he can to restore any dents in his or the teams pride above anyting else he finds worth saying, rather than emphasising his appraisals of the side on a regular basis.Colchester fans spoke to us about Lamberts big dip in form in the latter part of the season for them. While i wouldn''t straight out say Lambert is set to follow on a similar''ish'' (in principle) pattern of form as to that of which Colchester fans would indicate toward, i do feel it''s atleast a thought worth considering if you account for the vast change in the standard of performances since the turn of the year that he''s had with us. He''s trying to say that Lambert is the one in the know and the one who is emloyed to do this by the club, as he''s the best man for the job, not us despite what my FM record says, (Harrogate Town, kings of Europe 2020!)
