First Wizard 0 Posted December 29, 2004 Oh, yes he can!. Against Spurs, and with aid Football First''s slow motion, it was the great lump who trod on Safri''s ankle, resulting in that player limping off. Against Boro yesterday, he flattened poor Helveg, thus adding to City''s deepening injury crisis. Why he felt he needed to head the ball and Thomas''s neck in the first place?, is beyond me!. Add to that, giving away needless free kicks, and a stupid bloody penalty, he is fast becoming a real health hazard for City. For the team''s overall safety, I''d say play him up front, but I''ve just remembered who plays up there!. And to think I advocated letting Malky go. Can we get him back?, pronto!. Bird Table 0 Posted December 29, 2004 I think the word to describe him would be "dozy".
susie b 0 Posted December 29, 2004 I''m not going to be drawn on this one, Wiz, but I do think that reading this board can seriously damage the health at times!!! Now where''s my Prozac.....?
DumbleDelia is Magic 0 Posted December 29, 2004 Give the poor sod a break. How can you seriously blame him for those two freak injuries? For me, the Doc is getting better every time I see him. We all hated Malky when he first came too. Rememeber that?

Of course I wasn''t being serious, and I suspect you know that all to well. And I won''t apologise for my strange humour, and never will.So climb down off your morale soapbox and lighten up a shade. And if you think Doherty''s performing better with every game now, and yet you''re still not convinced about Helveg, than God help us all mate.PS. And don''t you dare lump me in with the Malky haters of long ago. Because I was never one of that rare breed, I''m proud to say.
Karl Pilkington 0 Posted December 29, 2004 It''s not just the doc that can batter his team mates. It was Mackenzie that battered Francis.
Thirsty Lizard 3,215 Posted December 29, 2004 To be serious for a minute I was pretty impressed with the Doc against Spurs. He kept Kanoute pretty quiet I thought. There was one time in the first half when he was in a straight race with Kanoute and I thought we could be stuffed here, but in fact the Doc won the race. To me he looks a bit like Malky, but with more pace..which can''t be too bad.Wasn''t at Boro yesterday, but according to Roy & Neil (not always the most reliable guide I know) he was our star man - in the first half at least. ZLF 335 Posted December 29, 2004 I too was one of the supporters of Malkys departure but never a hater - he did a fantastic job for us here but his time was done.Like DD I am starting to warm to the doc in defence(I didnt think I would ever type that). Against Bolton he conceeded far too many free kicks and in too dangerous positions - however the number of these do appear to have reduced. It seems he had a good game against hasselbaink and he did have a good game against kanoute. Yes he still lumbers around like a teenager whos body is growing quicker than his mind can comprehend, I would love to see him really lead the line and his passing could do with improving (he is not alone there) but I am convinced he is getting better. Now if he can remember not to take out our own players he could catch on with the supporters...However it might be that I am only comparing him to Flem and, to be fair anyone, could look good against that at the moment! My current preferred back four isHelveg Doherty Charlie Drury.OTBC
