So, Mr Lambert. Here's what I think is wrong with the club in full.

Recommended Posts

Let''s start at the back. We still lack someone at the back, organising and motivating. Please, please don''t do as every one of your recent predecessors have done and play Gary Doherty. In my view, Doherty is not good enough and far too accident prone. He flatters to deceive. Michael Nelson is still a fresh face here, but he was abysmal - as you''ll know - against Colchester. In my mind, Askou is head and shoulders above each of these - and I think Spillane must be his natural partner. Our full backs are abysmal. We''ve not seen Wiggins yet, and I''ll excuse him, but Otsemobor and Drury are not good enough. We need solid full backs capable of defending. Then we can consider their ability going forward. Otherwise what''s the point? The goalkeeper position needs to be rethought. Alnwick seems okay - but only okay. Theokilitis (or however it''s spelt) looks like he''s never played as a goalkeeper in his life. Rudd, however, looks good - solid, clever and capable. Perhaps you need to be bold and thrust him forward. Couldn''t hurt, could it? Bring Alnwick in permanently and we have a decent duo competing for the spot. Theo can do as he wishes.Right, let''s now move forward a little bit.Midfield has now been poor for years and years. Don''t persist with OTJ and Gill - who are both holding players and offer nothing going forward. They should be competing for the same place. Why not give Hughes an extended run in the team? Even if not on £7k a week, he must be on a fair whack - and yet we''re ignoring his experience in Championship and SPL in favour of Matty Gill, a L2 player. Something not right there. And personally I would rather have Adeyemi in the side alongside Hughes in any case, with Tudur Jones offering a physical alternative. On the wings, Hoolahan and Whaley - are they here on merit or here on reputation? So far, I''m not really seeing any justification for their continued presence in the team. And neither give sufficient width. I don''t think there''s anything in the squad we can legitimately replace either with to remedy this either. Tough one. Up front - Holt works his socks off and is capable when given the right service. Cody is young and has too much riding on him - so I think he needs to be taken away from the squad for a while and allowed to continue his education in professional football as an alternative on the bench. I think Martin is the same too. For me, Maric could be the one - let''s give him a run up front. I think Holt would benefit from the space having Maric up front would ultimately give as well. Looking away from individuals and more towards the team, you don''t need to do much here - just change the way we play. We try to play down the wings to wingers we don''t have. Our central midfield sits back and seems to wait for the opposition to come to us. Our full backs come forward, and central defenders move out to cover for them - leaving massive gaps down the midfield. As a result, the central midfield drops deeper and we just have nothing go forward. The strikers work hard, but work hard in isolation. We need more support - the opposite wingers should be pushing forward to support the strikers. The fact they don''t means 9 times out of 10 our attacks come to nothing. Midfield should assist as well. I want to see more bodies in the box when the wingers and midfielders on the ball look up to cross balls into the box. Finally, at the back. We need to be more aware and less prone to just beating it out. As soon as something goes against us, our defence panics and we seem unable to to play the ball out of defence - we just hoof it forward. Norwich fans have had enough. You are the latest in a long line of wrong appointments. Please, please stop these awful performances.

[/quote]My apologies, Ryan, that came out incorrectly. I should have said, "You are the latest in a long line of appointments, of which your predecessors have all been the wrong choice".

Pretty much agree with everything you have said, especially the bit about the wingers. We have no width at all and are crying out for an out and out winger who can actually cross the ball. Hoolahan and (the massively disappointing) Whaley are too fond of coming inside all the time and as our full backs are next to useless as an attacking threat. Therefore it is far too easy for sides to shut us down

The trouble is you can''t imagine there is much money left in the pot! As you point out there is still an issue across the back four - Nelson has only had one game and whilst he was awful it doesn''t necessarily mean he is a total tool! Since Doc arrived we have never looked solid at the back and he has been the on constant in the last 5 years of dross. We do also lack cover in the wide areas apart from perhaps Lappin & McVeigh.

We have 12 new players in our squad plus the returning Martin & Spillane which effectively means 14 players to integrate. Probably only 3 players have played 100 games for the club (Doc, Drury & McVeigh). We have had a constant turn over of players each year for the last 3/4 years and an equal turn over of managers. At no level has there been any stability at the club.

The current crop of players must be given time to bed in, the likes of Hughes, Holt, Askou, Tudor Jones, Maric & Whaley look like they might be useful players in this league. It is very harsh to write some of the new players off after 1 or 2 games particularly bearing in mind the manager who brought most of them to the club is fired after 2 games, 24 hrs before a key game. Games are coming thick and fast at the moment and it will be interesting to see which players Lambert goes with over the next couple of games.

This club will only progress once it is unified from top to bottom. The brief good times we experienced under Worthy came on the back of 20,000 fans turning up at Carrow Road, singing their hearts out and giving the team their full support. Of course we had great players we could identify with; Iwan, Hucks, Malky, McVeigh, Neilsen, Nedeergaard, Holt, Mulryne, Fleming etc. We do now have a team of our own players sme of whom, hopefully, will become future legends. Sadly, I doubt they will get the time. Lambert will understandably want to bring in some players of his own which keeps the huge turn over of players going!

We have to get rid of Russell & Stefanovic if they don''t want to be here - this will free up a bit of cash. We need another centre back and cover in wide areas.

I keep hoping that we have bottomed out and that each new manager means a new start but things are just getting worse year on year. I am thoroughly fed up and just can''t see any improvement. The appointment of Lambert has left me distinctly underwhelmed and I hope we are just not in the same cycle again....
