Poor journalism

Recommended Posts

From Pinkun: "Striker Chris Martin knows the Canaries must become harder to score against. The striker has pin-pointed Norwich City''s collective defensive frailties as one of the main reasons why the Canaries have managed to earn only one point in the league so far from a possible nine."

Journalism should be about disclosure. What does this tell us that we didn''t already know? Looks like a press release straight from the club. Message to Archant hacks: try digging about for some stories. You never know, you might find something

I can confirm Chris Martin was sick as a parrot about recent results, he thinks the side just have to take it 1 game at a time and give 110% each time they step on the pitch.

Not sure the club is to blame. They probably couldn''t care less whether

non-stories are printed midweek about nothing in particular. Blame the

fans who are desperate to read something - anything - about the club

every day. (Just read this message board when there is no news at all).

If you are Archant, and own a newspaper, which must sell copy to keep

everyone employed, then journalists have to fill the pages - with

anything rather than nothing at all.Actually Martin rather

contradicts hinself - he says it''s the fault of the defence in giving

away soft goals -  but then goes on to say the strikers should have

taken their chances in the first half. (Which probably sums up the

whole team''s performance though).

That wasn''t a criticism of the club. They feed Archant''s hacks, who publish. When was the last time any of the publications broke a really big story about the club?
Or they could always make a few up like the tabloids do.
What like "Mark Robins to be unveiled as Norwich manager today.." The Sun.    A few hours later......
