Gibbo 131 Posted March 7, 2009 In my opinion things are only going to get worse before they get better - but get better, they will - it will just take time...We are currently in a viscious circle, that will only end when the players we have find their ''off-form'' level. The players play poorly, the fans get on their back, the players become scared to play and make more mistakes, the fans get more on their back, etc, etc... It''s not directly the players (or the fans for that matter) fault, but the fault of whoever brought in players who were either not good enough ability wise, or mentality wise.Once the players ''bottom out'', we''ll start to see the players put runs together and hopefully get the reverse of the viscious circle I described above (Like during the early Worthy years where we gradually built up to the prem).Unfortunately, there is no saying the players we''ll have at the start of next season won''t bottom out in league 2... :-(
Canary02 III 0 Posted March 7, 2009 Good post. Things will get better... "Don''t know where, don''t know when, but I know we''ll win again, some sunny day". August against Yeovil probably.
beachbum 0 Posted March 7, 2009 Shouldnt a club with 25k attendances be finding a slightly higher level than Div 3?

Theres only one Ken Foggo 0 Posted March 7, 2009
Shouldnt a club with 25k attendances be finding a slightly higher level than Div 3?
Sadly, the days went big attendances meant bigger spending power have long gone. [:(]

Every year it has to be subsidised; the present Board are not rich enough to keep doing this indefinitely. You can argue the toss about the value of the income streams they have generated & whether the money would have been better spent on players; this is patently not a guarantee of success - plenty of clubs have spent a lot of money on players who have flopped, personally I think Norwich should have put more effort into a decent scouting & development system.I think the clubs who are performing well with little funding in the Championship are the ones who have no expectations - teams like Doncaster, who do not pay big wages but have built a proper TEAM over time. Norwich still has a "big club" expectation about it & is expected (by its fans) to attract some biggish names - on biggish wages. And there''s the rub; with Prem. expectations, a few such players, on thr right money, might consider coming. At the moment however ..... I mean, who did you expect Bryan to entice?? Like it or not, Norwich is a long way from anywhere (as far as your average 20-something footballer is concerned).Relegation or not, some radical rethinking about the club structure & recruiting needs to be done

George Graham always said that he would never buy players from a bigger club than the one he was managing because the players always felt they were doing you a favour rather than enhancing their career by wearing your shirt. We should have been identifying good young lower league talent and bringing them through over the past five years. Instead we''ve become embedded in this idea that "if you buy lower league players that''s where you end up" and have spent our last penny on Premiership and Championship rejects and loanees. We''re just sliding down with a whimper and some loanees
HappyhammerAndy 0 Posted March 8, 2009 I don''t think that you have time on your side mate, some of your paying fanbase and perhaps, more importantly, the young kids growing up around you will decide that they want to support a Premiership side rather than one marooned where you might end up, it''s only natural ain''t it?
