cuckoo in the nest 0 Posted November 21, 2008 Does anybody know what the away travel policy is for the players and managerial (sic) team is ? When do they use bus , plane and do they ever use train? For example Sheff Wed players paid their own train fares to C Palace after the coach had gotten delayed en route to Reading where they arrived very late and got tanked by a real Manager''s (Coppell) team.A long while back we got smudged 6 - o at Port Vale and I saw quite a few of Mike Walker''s social team in the Queens Moat House , Festival Park, Stoke bar enjoying some R&R the Friday nite b4 the game. Nice to see players unwinding and bonding on their away days especially as earlier in the week they played like John Sergeant when they were knocked for six , 5 to nil by the Baggies at the Hawthorns, kindly giving Alan Buckley their manager a reprive from the sack according to jeff Astle at the time -how altruistic !Will the team travel tomorrow morning or are they already sofa''d in the lounge of the Belton Woods , Grantham hotel and golf resort as we speak ? after a grinding 18 holes , or perhaps practising their tactical swivels on the bar stools in the nineteenth. Or is it cost -cutting at the Holiday Ginn Express in central Nottingham with a late nite stroll around the new statue of Cloughie near the central square.Finding at last a manager they can look up to.Whatever the current policy is it needs to be changed. Gloan Roeder must have appointed or gotten on loan a "space management in territories outside Norfolk " specialist to assist in these urbane matters -alternatively there must be a possibilty that the team can crash at one of their own houses given the geographical spread of the loanees ? Do they have minders when they go out alone (or is it spelt a loan )to protect themselves from admirers and well -wishers (they should be so lucky )
Bury Yellow 2 Posted November 21, 2008 I don''t think I''m giving any secrets away when I say that Plymouth away was the last time the players would fly to games. This was because of the Turners quitting the board and financial restraints being introduced. The next away game was at Bristol and they travelled by coach! 0ridgemanddMMyyyy0Falseen-USTrue 0 Posted November 21, 2008 They should all return on the same coaches as the supporters can you imagine Roeder telling the driver he knows best. I also think they would put in a better performance if they were going to get earache all the way home. Some of the supporters could then travel on the players coach with its plush seats and all other luxuries. I would love to see Roeder being told where he is going wrong all the way back from Blackpool or Burnley.

gazzathegreat 0 Posted November 21, 2008 I must say I would gladly pay a handsome price to travel on the team coach...very luxurious, lovely leather seats, they have a DVD player(s) and all mod cons, unlike Cabbage. It would be a wonderful addition to those "Matchday Experiences" they keep dreaming up. Have often seen the coach travelling back from away fixtures, usually at full speed ahead. Mello Yello 2,573 Posted November 22, 2008 Nice to travel in a twin engined comfy executive aircraft, and it''s only an hour''s flying time max - to most distant away games. Then, return back to Norwich - and on to Suffolk, with plenty of time for a fish an'' chip supper - and a few glasses of ruby red grapejuice. And the Club Canary cabbage coaches - are just getting into 4th gear....."Grrrr Klunk! Screech - Grind - Bang Bang - Kerlunk!"[:|]
Grando 338 Posted November 22, 2008 I think they should have to hitch to away games. Would save the club money and also be a good initiative test. Those players with the most nous would be the ones who would get there in time and therefore get a place in the starting line-up.
