Fans with too much ambition?

Recommended Posts

I think one of the problems that Norwich are currently facing is a total lack of reality about who we are, the players we have and the amount of money we have to spend.

We do not have a board with ambition, most of our players are average at best and would not stand a chance of holding their own in the premiership, and lets face it that’s where we want to be, and finally we have no money (well not enough) to buy anyone of the required quality.  On top of this we seem to have little or no team spirit and week after week role out performances that are not acceptable.

I think the reality of the situation is as follows:

  • We are only at best a mid table to bottom half championship club
  • With our current squad we have no chance of play offs or promotion
  • With our current board we will never make progress
  • With fans who do not understand this we will never force change

I think it is simple; you can not make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear!

The fact is we will be lucky to stay in this division; we do not play consistent football and have no fight about us!

I do not know what the answer to these problems is (I wish I did)  but do believe we fans need to understand we are exactly where we deserve to be, and with the current set up that is where we will stay, to expect more is just kidding ones self!

not being funny but everytime you win i hear talk of playoffs! You lose, board out, manager clueless, going down about 4leagues! Norwich will come around 15th and be safe, although nowhere near touching distance of top 6

I dont think as fans we have too much ambition.

Personally I would be happy for us to be mid table and pushing towards a play off place, surely a club of our size should be able to compete with the likes of Burnley, even Plymouth and Blackpool are 11th and 12th!  We should be able to compete at that level and the fact that we arent shows there is something wrong with this club from the very top.

lets face it theirs about 8 or 9 clubs who realistically can acheive promotion this season, theres about a further 5 or 6 who feel they should be up their challenging, then theres usually a suprise package or two

basically theres going to be around 15 teams who reckon they should be getting promoted

And how many years should we accept being the biggest failures out of those 15 teams who are looking for a promotion push?  Should we be happy at languishing near the relegation places instead?

If we were a club with a three sided ground, attendances of 6,000, trainned at the local park, burger van outside the ground the sum of the catering. No international or players bought for over £500,000. Never played in europe, not finished third in the premier league, no parachute payments for the last 10 years, not played in the top divison, not invested millions in a failing youth set up, sold all of our best players for peanuts (like Blackpool), never had one of the best players in the league and released him even though he wanted to stay I would happily settle for survival in the championship. As it is all i want is for an outside chance of sneaking into the playoffs, surely not to much to ask others are managing it on alot less than we have.

I know the answer ...let''s all move to Dubai.

It''s easy to be philosophical from a distance.

  • We are only at best a mid table to bottom half championship club (make that bottom quarter at best!)

  • With our current squad we have no chance of play offs or promotion (correct but Roeder has recruited badly whatever his budget and is culpable)

  • With our current board we will never make progress (other teams achieve better with lower incomes)

  • With fans who do not understand this we will never force change (so we resign ourselves to suffer...ok)
