Motivating our players

Recommended Posts

Why is it that we seem so good at getting the worst out of players. Cureton seemed capable of banging in goals at most of the clubs he has played for (except us) Hoolahan (the new Huckaby) could regular star at Blackpool, but now can''t make our team, Crow though I accept he was in a lower division and now seems to have faded out could initially do it at Peterborough, Bentley was initially poor with us but now a multi million pound player, Crouch hardly scored but banged them in regularly for England. I could go on but risk boring you.Is anybody also sick of hearing players that rue the delay of an international break preventing them the opportunity of putting right the earlier crap performance - has the motivation gone a fortnight later?

Previously it was Costa Colney and no body was worried about the effort required and the consiquences of not applying the effort. Now the Rodent has a love or hate (Fotheringham & Croft as examples) mentality with the effort applied not being rewarded so why bother.

Temp staff do not have the same motivation unless nurtured by a good man manager which Rodent is not

Brown now at Preston..........they love him

Thorne................................Now top scorer in his division.

Chadwick............................Already a hit at MK Dons

Rossi Jarvis........................Now Capt at Luton.

Playing for City may damage your career.

But saying all this, there have been many a good player playing for us in the past that wasn''t any better anywhere else - Iwan, Steeno to name but two!!

You could argue Francis as well?

If their wages each week aren''t enough to motivate them then I don''t know what is!  Maybe paying them basic wages and then bringing back the win bonuses might focus a few minds a bit more. [:)]

Worthington used to get in a sports Psychologist to get us fired up for games.. it didnt work... i remember the year we got rid of him we went up!

Shouldnt motivation be the job of the manager/Captain?

jas :)
