If you want to remain 100% positive that the club has enough money to bring in FT players and not 6 or 7 loans then good for you. Loans are only good for the short term, it''s long term I worry about. And that Sir is my perogative. [:)]

Rasputin was a C... 0 Posted July 13, 2008 The fact is we have at this present time a smaller squad than we finished last season with. We also have, except for a few exceptions a squad of players who were on the brink of relegation. Now I would love to see us have a successful season but as it stands it is more likely that we will struggle and could very well be staring relegation in the face again. We may sign a few more players but considering the last few years when not a great deal of money has been made available for players I can''t see us making the quality permanent signings that we need to move us forward. Its not a deafest attitude, its a realistic attitude. Nothing wrong with trying to be positive about what could happen but with all things considered its hard to be positive. A Load of Squit 6,260 Posted July 13, 2008 Well, put it this way, do you think that the current squad is the one that will start the season? If your answer is no then your not being realistic, if its yes then you are being realitic but I think you''d be wrong.

Calm down. [/quote]We actually had a better squad at the start of last season than we do now... A single striker of note in an older slower Cureton that the manager doesnt rate, only 2 centre backs neither of who impress a great deal. On the plus side Hoolahan looks a decent left sider and Clingan hopefully will make the step up.
Rasputin was a C... 0 Posted July 13, 2008 I think you''ve got a little mixed up with your yes and no there. In answer to your question, no I don''t think this is the squad we will start the season with. Sadly though I do not believe we will see the number of quality signings needed to change us from being a squad of players that almost got relegated to a squad that could challenge at the very top. The reason I don''t think we''ll see many signings is simply because it''d be a huge change from years gone by when little money has been spent on a few additions. This summer we needed to make a splash in the transfer market so to speak and at this point in time there is little sign of us doing that. Apart from countless rumours we''ve made only a couple of signings and I honestly can''t see that changing much over the next few weeks.

I''ve just been listening to the Bristol City manager on the radio and he was saying that he''s got offers/inquiries on the go for 6 different players, now I don''t think that he meant he was going to sign six players but that he had to speculate on who he will get. The interviewer asked what would happen if he didn''t get any of them and he said he would move on and try other players, I sure Roeder is doing the same.
