Syteanric 1 Posted May 9, 2008 seem to disapear after managing us... I have been following the club since 1991.. in that time we have had Dave Stringer, Mike Walker (x2), Gary Megson, Martin o''Neil, John Deehan, Bruce Rioch, Hammy Hampster and Nigel Worthington and Peter GrantMost clubs when their manager leaves come up and face them again later on... From memory (and i might be wrong) We have only come up against Walker, O''Neil, Meggo and Worthington after they have moved on... Walker O''neil and Worthington once.. and Meggo a couple of times at Stockport..is this more an observation of our club in the past? Have we taken on managers no other club would of taken a punt on? Are they "yes men" or nice guys out of their depth? Why have so many of our managers in the past disapeard from the game instead of getting work elsewhere? and why have none of them (O''Neil apart) had any success?im of the opinion that we can only attract a certain type of manager....jas :)
Cottaging Canary 0 Posted May 9, 2008 Walker, Deehan, Stringer and Rioch were getting on by the time they left us, they were hardly expected to go on and be hugely successful elsewhere (except Walker but he failed anyway). Megson & O''Neil are Premier League managers and Worthy is an international manager, not too bad I''d say. I think you''re being overly negative again Jas! Cottaging Canary 0 Posted May 9, 2008 He may have been actually yeah, and to be fair he''s still knocking about in the lower-leagues. But I''m sure if you looked at most clubs managerial pasts you''d find the same results.

7rew 0 Posted May 9, 2008 Maybe its that we hold on to our managers for a bit to long and kill off their reputations.Worthy being here 6 years probably mucks up the number of ex managers still managing stats, we could have easily had 5 managers in this time.Extreme examples: Crewe have no managers from that period still managing elswhere nor do Manchester United or Arsenal (that I can think of).
