Unlucky Fried Kitten 0 Posted April 3, 2008 Good grief! that''s a lot of dosh. He''s spent around £40 million already taking Sunderland up into the Premier League and now he feels he needs that much again to help secure their survival in the top flight. No wonder the likes of Norwich City don''t have a hope in hell of ever getting established amongst the big boys. If "Keano" does manage to bring Sunderland up to the standard whereby they are considered to be an established Premiership side, I hope he doesn''t receive too many plaudits for his managerial skills. If this happens, I shall be one of the first to shout: "It''s the money what done it!"One big question though - where would Sunderland find that sort of finance from? lucky green trainers 0 Posted April 3, 2008 owned by irish consortium, who obviously like a speculative punt. paid off last year, got promoted, looks like paying off this year and staying up. certainly £40m would make them reasonably secure in the prem - and if they got lucky, even break into the top 6??? more likely that than bottom 6 - make no mistake!!! The Fish Seller 0 Posted April 3, 2008 Sad fact is that if every team in the Prem spent £100,000,000 on their squad during the Summer then the following would happen. One team will win the League.Three teams will get relegated.Maybe they should get together and do something about the ridiculous transfer fees which are paid to predominantly non British Clubs and are killing the game.. Unlucky Fried Kitten 0 Posted April 4, 2008 I tend to think that Keane is a vastly overrated manager. It would be interesting to see how much Glenn could transform the Canaries with £40 million. We''ll be lucky if he sees a tenth of that this summer.
HappyhammerAndy 0 Posted April 7, 2008 Disgusting as it is, transfer fees are linked to revenues that they bring in? They are no different to big earners in the City.Somebody would win the FA Cup and the league cup too.English teams would probably win the Champions League and the EUFA cup.The top 6 will go into European football next season.More people around the world would watch the Premiership, producing greater profits to investors.Every team is playing for a higher league place because it''s worth extra dosh.If all clubs spent £100m on transfers, wow! That would be a season to watch. Kaka etc. Bring it on.People can learn from the Premiership stars but not the Africans, Eastern Europeans, etc. that are bought by lower league clubs, because they are far cheaper. Finances!
