Lord Horn 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Anyone else annoyed by the lovable Motty''s comment regarding the Barnsley defender Stephen Foster along the lines of ''I can''t believe he''s still playing in the lower leagues''. For ****s sake, he plays in the secong highest league in the English football pyramid. Just goes to show how football is viewed by the BBC which is, also, sadly refected in the emphasis of football coverage on their website.
San Miguel 0 Posted March 11, 2008 i''m sure Foster saw it as a complimentnot sure why you''re so angered - the media, esp BBC, will always see the Prem as the important league and ignore the Championship. I say esp bbc since they show highlights of Prem league and not the Championshipif we were Premier league i''m sure our fans would think the same about the Championship
Shack Attack 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Motson is useless and should have been retired a long time ago. The BBC made a huge mistake when they chose him over Barry Davies who is a far superior commentator. The only thing worse than Motson is his sidekick Lawrenson. He seems to think that his job is to make excrutiatingly poor jokes rather than provide any insight on the game itself. Add to that the charisma bypass that is Alan Shearer and old jug ears himself and you see what a poor state the BBC''s coverage is in.SKY used to be ''literally'' much better until they ''literally'' brought in Jamie ''literally'' Redknapp! Joanna Grey 0 Posted March 11, 2008 The BBC always anger me regarding their football coverage. When they insist on giving Scottish teams more prominence on the national sports reports (Glasgow may be the fourth biggest city in the UK but it is split in two as far as football goes) than a lot of the English second and third tier teams and thier continued "support" of the Republic of Ireland during internationals (perhaps someone should remind them that the first "B" stands for British). we8wba 0 Posted March 11, 2008 agree with both commentsi hate how everyone from all kinds of aspects in game find it hard to believe such upsets happen even ones like boro v cardiffin fa cup rounds 1 and 2 we see upsets such as hereford beating leeds - 1league abovve them but no recognition even bristol r beating saints didnt - and only received a few eyebrows due to bristol r getting to 1/4s but not for actually beating saintswhich prem get the heads out the arses there are other clubs in the cup in the world and we can push them for result im happy being bigger fish in small pond to be honest and glad in way im not in prem for all the silly kickoff times, uefa cup re-sheldules, referee whos think they celebs and the general cockyness

I have never found any of our fans to be patronising towards lower league teams but maybe I''m in the minority.
Bovril 264 Posted March 11, 2008 i actually agree with what ''San Miguel'' has written i''m afraid, although i do like ur name Mr Horn ;)..When were in the premiership we love all the coverage we get and all the media attention and seeing your team more often on the bbc football focus or sky sports for example, though when were in the ''championship'' we all bemoan how much coverage the premiership gets, and how the lower leagues hardly get any attention, its classic human instinctsif u havent got something youve had and liked before, your''e envious of those that haveif you have got it, then you take it for granted and always want more
Houston Canary 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Get a grip, whiners. You are just looking for a reason to be offended, aren''t you?OF COURSE THE PREMIERSHIP GETS MORE COVERAGE, AND WHY SHOULDN''T IT. If you think otherwise, you don''t belong in football. The goal of every team NOT in the Premiership darn well better be to get there. It IS where you want NCFC to be isn''t it? Not in the lower leagues!!!

If it is then mute your TV put on the radio and listen to a far superior commentary.Five live has many great commentators all who give you something different and who are arguably better than anything the terrestrial channels and sky have to give you.The other bonus is that at half time rather than adverts or silly idle chit chat about non-events on the pitch, they give you all the latest scores, touchline communication (injuries etc) and some fans comments (occaisionaly). It gives you a much better overal coverage of the event and atmosphere than many of the TV commentators.

Buncey 1 Posted March 11, 2008 What annoys me, is that when the lower league and championship football is on we get chumps like peter beagrie giving commentary. I think the championship deserve as decent commentry that the premiership gets.In addition, the dream team (Mr. Tyler and Mr. Gray, for those not in the know) are by far the best commentators in english football. It is so frustrating listening to the idiot Motson and sidekick foo'' lawerson go on about a load of tosh and know nothing about any of the players that were playing. Two things that really threw me about barnsley that really threw me were the Jamal Cambell-Ryce was playing left wing even though he is awful with his left foot and Odejedi was playing lone striker, when he played against us he liked to peel off left. And finally, chicken you are right my friend. A while ago they put the football on interactive and you could listen to the five-live commentary if you chose to. They found so many people used it that they had to get rid of it because people were being encouraged not to listen to the actually bbc commentary. Five live''s team is very good. Plus you get updates about other matches as soon as it happens.
gazzathegreat 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Completely agree Chicken. The whole atmosphere created by Five Live is superior to the TV coverage, Sky included. Goes for cricket as well. However the BBC are still a whole lot better than ITV.
BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Can''t be worse than that BBC 1950s refit Peter Brackley. And alone for 90 mins without a comments man. Dire in extremis.Resembles a modulated Pathe News - for those of you OGs who can remember.OTBC
