Blown away by Brazil

Recommended Posts

I was, at lunchtime, watching Brazil (3rd favourites) in the Women''s World Cup demolish USA (favourites) 4-0 with some beautiful football (and a little bit of showboating a la Ronaldinho).

Until now I''d never really got into the women''s game.  Partly it was sour grapes because when I was young enough to play, women''s football was banned in this country.  (Yes that''s right.  It was banned in the 1920s, reintroduced with a complete absence of publicity in about 1973 when sex discrimination legislation made the ban illegal, and nothing much happened for another ten years.  No wonder England has some catching up to do.)  But now I''ve accepted that I''ll never know just how crap I might have been . . . [:$]

The final is on Sunday at 12.45, Brazil v. The Hun.  Brazil are second favourites (or they were before today''s performance).  I won''t miss it for anything.

Leave the Ipswich legend alone! The poor man''s just been charged with drink driving so can do without hassle from the likes of us although the last time I saw him at Yarmouth races he was HUGE, very red in the face, had eyes that resembled a road map and a belly that just about met his knees!
