Granty appears relaxed

Recommended Posts

Less than 2 weks to go until the transfer window closes, however loans still available.  PG does not seem to be overly concerned with the deficiency of the centre of our defence.  Could it be that we are not going to strengthen there, he feels we can get by with theDoc, Shacks and Dion the only experienced players to cover that position.

Although some posters are now posting that Doc is not as bad as his performances have made us believe, a right sided CB is the priority as PG has rejected loaning Calum Davenport as a left sided CB as not being required.  I fear for our season should we not strengthen at CB.  The Doc cannot be relied for a whole season to perform or even stay fit.

PG is not making any moves in the RCB direction for which I for one am concerned.  We may of course not have any funds which is also a concern, as we certainly do not seem to have spent £5m received for Earnshaw and Etuhu.  We are not even being mentioned as being interested in the likes of Sodje who could seemingly fit.

How do we know this? I''m not saying you''re wrong or sniping at you, I''m just wondering if you have a firm reason (other than that it isn''t being bandied about in public) for thinking this? Genuinely, have you heard anything in this vein?

Keep the Faith Pete!

PG has said in various interviews that he knows we are short at the back. He''ll pull a rabbit out of the bag before the window closes, wait and see. Most likely a young Premier fringe player on loan.

He has gone in for 3 centre backs, AND Callum Davenport in the last couple of weeks...

He has said that he is in for a RCB not an LCB which is a direct suggestion he isn''t looking to replace anyone but Doc.

Agree completely.

Do people have such short memories about Grant and standing by his players that stand by him, and work hard?  Remember the praising of Robbo, and Hoos??  He knew they werent good enough, but bigged them up as they needed it, but first opportunity they went.  McVeigh too, after the Cardiff game where he got sent off - "still got a future, good footballer......" - released on a free.

he is doing the same with Doc, he knew how much work he had to do this summer, and has cleared the dead wood, we are down to even 2 keepers now, excluding loans.  He has kept him as he knew he needed competition, and didnt want to be forced into paying over the odds, or being left only signing the same standard, but will replace him, this I am sure of!  Doh didnt get a new contract like drury, grant took the option, his contract still runs out this summer.  I think its smart management.
