The Lord 0 Posted March 21, 2004 having watched him for the past month or so i really cant see how he benefits the team, he is only an average player for division two and is not good enough! it doesnt help him when he and huckerby have no partneship go back to the 4-4-2 with GREENDRURY MACKAY FLEMING EDWORTHYBRENNAN HOLT MULRYNE COOPER HUCKERBY MCKENZIE/IWANSUB: MCVEIGH, JARVIS, SVENNSON, CRICHTON, FRANCIS

ZLF 335 Posted March 22, 2004 I have to disagree. The midfield is our problem and until they learn to pass again having a Leon Hux dream ticket is doomed to failure. Combined with the quality balls from defence (ha!) playing our two best strikers together would mean losing possession even quicker than we do now.As such we need a true target man and the options we have are only Sven or Iwan. Having seen the last few games there really is no alternative - it has to be Sven. Sometimes you only notice a players worth once they are not there. When Iwan has replace Sven or Sven replace Iwan change in citys fortune is immense - city are a far better side when Sven is on the pitch.... The same goes for McVeighAs such I would start with the following against Stoke, fitness permittingGreenDrury (or Brennan) Mackay Fleming EdworthyMcVeigh Francis Holt Cooper Huckerby SvennsonSubsCrichton, Shackell, Mulryne, Mackenzie Jarvis. Tufnell Park Canary 0 Posted March 22, 2004 I think you points are interesting zipper, but I just feel that Leon should be given a chanvce at the expense of Svennson. Leon could be the spark to get City back on track, whereas Svennson loks off the pace & cumbersome. In terms of the midfield you''re right, Holt is immense but we need someone to link the midfield and the attack - perhaps if we had natural wingers we would be hammering teams. Rasputin was a C... 0 Posted March 22, 2004 After the West Ham game I said that Svennson was lazy, caught out of position too often and didn''t win enough in the air. I got a couple of people telling me to "sod off" and realise how good he was. A big piece of the promotion puzzle, and now no-one can wait to slg him off. Sorry but, told you so! my_left_foot 0 Posted March 22, 2004 Understand the criticism but to be fair no-one was any great shakes at Palace. If you analyse the game and our BETTER moments though (in terms of opportunities), Svennson was involved regardless. He won the freekick which led to our only shot by Mulryne in first half, had a snap shot well saved by their keeper in second half and provided the header on to McKenzie for our other attempt on goal. I can''t remember anyone else creating too much! Get off the guys back and give him a chance - he has only just had the opportunity to complete a couple of games at 90 minutes. Remember how big Iwan was in his first season with us?
