lucky green trainers 0 Posted March 3, 2007 for me, martin is destined to be a top player. both he and earnie make great runs, have great reactions and a goalscorers instinct. earnie has better pace, but martin has a true all round footballing touch and skill, similar to sutton in my view. could these 2 complement each other, and with a stronger defence, could they fire the goals that makes us true contenders for top 6 next season? [/quote] Its a good question - I''m not sure but it''s certainly worth a try. I''m struggling to see now how we can fit all our best players into the team. How can Dublin, Earnie, Hucks, Croft, Chadwick, Brown and Martin all play together??I''ve put Brown in that list because Grant clearly rates him and I think he wants Brown to play up front with Earnie! Huddy 0 Posted March 3, 2007 I don''t see why not?, Martin comes deeper more than earsnaaw and can be more of a link player, freeing Hucks to play wider if we want. However i think it is something we wont see because Earny will probably leave in the summer and to be honest we could do with the money to invest in other areas, like bigger striker and centre half. We''d miss earnshaw, but martins coming on nicely and i''m sure we could afford a varney or sharp etc fro 1/3 of the price we''d sell earny for!

I agree with you - I think Earnie may leave in the summer - then Brown or Dublin and Martin would seem a good combination up front.I''m getting quite excited about Bally Smart too! Sounds like a great prospect with blistering pace!! Lets hope Grant gives him the same chance that Martin has had!
ZLF 334 Posted March 3, 2007 With 7 goals in three games from primarily playing a hux Martin strikerforce why would we split them up and pick earnie in preference??[;)]
burn down the ipswich 0 Posted March 3, 2007 I think that if we continue to rely on Martin, we run the risk of burning him out. He could play every game for the rest of this season and next season, tear his hamstring and then he could be off and on for the rest of his career, much like Michael Owen. I would love to see Martin and Earnshaw up front together but i truly beleive that one of them will be sold by the time they are both in excellent form.
