Big Rob 0 Posted August 4, 2006 This was taken from Skysports.com on Jan 8 this year:Worthington also admitted that he would like to bring Sutton back to Carrow Road. The former Celtic marksman left Parkhead to join Birmingham on a free transfer, but has only signed until the summer, and Worthington could move for him then. "It''s a situation where we''ll just have to wait and see," said Worthington. "It''s very early. Chris is an excellent player, he might be a little too expensive for ourselves at this moment in time, ie personal terms and so on, but we''ll let the next few months fly past. "We''ll see where we''re at then and see where he is and go from there." Seems a bit of a big turnaround from being interested to dismissing it completley without an explanaition. The Fish Seller 0 Posted August 5, 2006
Whats changed since January?1 goal in 11 games and a shedload of injuries, thats what.
A poorer goal ratio than that and the early season injuries injuries never stopped him fielding "Who''s-he?" at every opportunity dit it? Branston Pickle 4,150 Posted August 5, 2006 It is an interesting one that people now seem to be forgetting that Sutton spent a lot of the last 6 months injured; having moved to Brum 5 Jan he only played 11 games, which is certainly not many, and this includes Cup games too; even Jim Magilton, whilst saying he might be interested, said that Sutton needs a scan on a groin problem. These are not things that are made up, but nailed-on facts which indicate injury problems. Of course they wouldn''t mean a lot were he to get fit and he may have a season (or more) left in him, but it would be a gamble whatever form of contract you had him on. The money side of things is interesting - according to the Scotsman he ''had'' to leave Celtic as they wanted him to accept a pay cut - something just 6 months down the line he seemingly doesn''t care a jot about....you do have to wonder how much of a cut he''s thinking of to play for us, as whatever we''d be able to afford it surely would be a lot less than Celtic were offering; I can''t help but think that his ''pay cut'' would still make him one of our better paid players which would be wrong.
