Hugh Jarse 0 Posted June 8, 2006 Just heard yesterday that Martin O''Neil was interviewed for the England job and he would have accepted it, if offered to him. Can''t help but feel England have screwed up on this one, I had the same level of disappointment at the hearing Steve McLaren was to be England boss as I did with the appointment of Worthington at Norwich. The Martin O''Neil interveiw yesterday just makes it a whole lot worse
Evil Monkey 52 Posted June 8, 2006 It''s certainly a Homer Simpson "D''oh!" moment, isn''t it... I''m more than happy to give Mclaren his chance, but I have my doubts... To be fair, appointing O''Neill would have been no guarantee of success, but would have been a more exciting option...
blahblahblah 2 Posted June 8, 2006 O''Neill, while a very capable manager, has no international experience. McClaren knows the current set-up and players inside out. I would rather have McClaren as England coach.
Hampshire Yella 0 Posted June 8, 2006 Martin O''Neil has done a great job at EVERY club he has been at in almost EVERY season he has been a manager. Not a single failure in there, not one!! (and certainly nothing like Blackpool or recent Norwich in Nigel''s case).I would have had him over Steve McClaren any day of the week. He unfortunatly said all he wanted to do was manage the team, not any of the other tripe that is foolishly down to the england manager these days.
