Why hasnt worthy given youth a chance?

Recommended Posts

we have the jarvis brothers, henderson, shakell etc but none of these players have ever been given a fair run in the team when its clear they have more talent and potential than pathetic signings such as hughes, yet worthy seems determined to prove himself right by continuesly playing his ineffective signings rather than swallow some pride and stick with the youth.had shakell not got injured last year he would have been a barnsley player. Not my words the words of andy ritchie-barnsley boss.We used to be famous for our attacking passing football and our youth players were our bread and butter.Another case is when we got promoted[the most embaresing season of my life]one minute worthy says he wont sign players over 30 dismissing sheringham, keown, dublin etc then since signed simon charlton, graham stuart, peter thorne etc saying there experience is invaluable,oh by the way worthy i think that sheringham you deemed over the hill played in some mickey mouse cup final last week.Managerial and coaching appointments used to come from within, why was boothryds potential not noticed and promoted to a role to match his ambitions? Good on malky for getting promoted and i hope he stays at watford and has a great season and prove to worthy he wasnt over the hill like iwan{who were both younger than graham stuart} and prove to worthys 1000th bad decision of his canary career!

Perhaps because they have skill, but their motors are not so good and they don''t play hoofball?

Hey BT. The thing at the bottom of your key board is called a space-bar. Just for info - you are allowed to tap it at the end of each sentence as well as after each word.

I felt I had to read your entire (very interesting) post in one breath - but went quite light-headed in doing so.... [:)]

His man managment skill is poor ,but dealing with young or youth players it is futile. It all goes back to how he was treated as an apprentice. He wants instant results and has no time to build for the future ,hence all the old timers and loan players who arrive and then leave Carrow Road.

worthy has given youth an adequate chance. we have shackell as a regular starter now. henderson has been given chances but failed to take them (he hasn''t played upfront much, true, but would you play him instead of roberts, ashton, hucks, crouch, svensson, mckenzie, earnshaw, johansson etc.?), as has ryan jarvis, who has also been injured and is younger. rossi is extremely young. he gave 3 youngsters their debut last season. these players are all good but i have never seen anything to suggest that any of them (shackell aside) warrants a regular starting place.

''They are good but you have never seen anything to suggest they warrant a regular starting place''.  From this statement can I assume they need to be outstanding to get a regular starting place?  I also take it that you believe Hughes, Etuhu, Robinson are outstanding players and that is why they always play.

Worthington was reluctant to bring Shackell in and soon dropped him at any opportunity, Henderson has never been played as a centre forward, which is where he plays in the England u-21 team.  The remainder of the talented youngsters have never been given more than one game, if that.

Why did he not bring the youngsters in for the Wolves game when he had nothing to lose; the simple answer is he doesn''t believe in youngsters, and that is why we never got anywhere near the play offs. Unless he changes his attitude towards youngsters next season then we are likely to still be in the same division. at the end of the season.
NW gives youth a chance...  Graeme Stuart....  Case Closed
Typical - Stuart was brought in because Bently was injured - how old was he 20? Not giving youth a chance?I think you mean not giving OUR youth a chance. Otherwise you are a little wrong and the case is most certainly not closed. Firstly how old does a player have to be to stop being classed as "young".Colin and Etuhu are 23 - seeing that Shackell is 22 and people class him as young they must be too. Earnshaw is what 23ish? Ashton has only just turned 22 not to mention the four accadamy guys handed contracts.People last season wanted to see more of the youngsters but the neggativity made the situation far from ideal to put them out there.

It was the same questions I asked about possibly 5 years old! There was absolutely no points to spend money on other team''s reserves, and if he think the young players, who was in professional contract, was not good enough, released them and save us some wages!!!

4 academy players were given pro-contract this season, 2 were defenders and 2 were midfielders, the position we needed to get fresh legs in (because on striker we have Earnshaw, Thorne, McKenzie, Jarvis, Henderson, 5 already!), let''s see in next season, how Nigel will treat the young players. The golden rule is you don''t give them chance to play, he can never show how good or how bad they were!!!
