The Duke of Norfolk 0 Posted May 3, 2006 Wolves?, QPR, Leceister, Derby, Palace (Dowie to Charlton). This is the list of clubs that either will or are likely to be looking for a new manager in the summer. Now cast your minds forward to September/October time. We give Nigel 10 games or so at the start of the forthcoming season. It doesn''t work out and he departs the club.Just who will we get to replace him in September/October once the above mentioned teams have snared all the best managers? If your not worried about our plight then you should be. Oso Butch 0 Posted May 3, 2006 Agree entirely, your Lordship. That''s why this ''give him 10 games next season'' nonsense just won''t work. As you so rightly point out, the best pickings will have long since gone. The Board simply has to act well before the next season begins. Worthless has had his chance. He needs to move on, and so (more importantly) does Norwich. We needn''t feel sorry for Worthless - he''ll pick up a job somewhere soon, at the right level for his capability. The Walking Man 13 Posted May 3, 2006 You really think we will get a manager in that has big wages like the above will be looking for? No. We cannot afford to pay a top class manger, thats why he will not go.
Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted May 3, 2006 This has been a major problem with the give him 10 games syndrome... You would have to hope to get Lucky like Southampton did with Burley being available. I am quite a big fan of looking locally. Its normally done well for us and the scum before. Oso Butch 0 Posted May 3, 2006 You mean like Adrian Boothroyd, CJ? or better still, The Dream Team of [*] Ian Crook and Mark Bowen [*] ?
Thorny 0 Posted May 3, 2006 From that list, you have to ask why those clubs are looking for managers yet why our board is so keen to keep hold of ours!? Some of those teams are those who have managers leaving and those who are pushed. Those pushed because they want their club to be ambitious. Those moving on again to be ambitious. Ours? Just happy sitting in 9th place which is apparently just as acceptable as 7th.
ZLF 335 Posted May 4, 2006 I see that the likes of newell, parkinson and boothroyd are all contenders for the charlton job.The trouble with local is that there is no one within the club who deserves the role and I dont think I could somach Joe Royle, and without being condescending, the managers of Yarmouth, Lynn, Diss or Gorleston do lack a little for experience. There are loads of hungry young managers and coaches like Boothroyd champing at the bit for a decent job like citys. The lack of options for a replacement manager (unlike the paucity of board/chair replacements) is not a reason to stick with Nigel.
