Galactico 16 Posted August 6, 2023 What's happened to the ITV Saturday evening EFL programme? No studio, no pundits and no match analysis - and, as for the highlights of our match, blink and you'll have missed it. Telly on the cheap, and 20 minutes shorter than last season too. Their two-year deal ends this season, so hopefully someone else will pick up the rights next season and make a much better job of it. The Championship, in particular, is a great competition and deserves much better.

Herman 9,820 Posted August 6, 2023 Although the host was pleasing to the eye the rest was a step back in quality. Bring back Quest and Colin.
Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man 3,852 Posted August 6, 2023 It was very poor, and almost exactly the same style as when it used to be on ITV about 15-20 years ago. I remember being pleased when it moved across to the BBC. Hosting the show from a ground is always a bad idea; they end up putting too much emphasis on the featured game and there's no analysis. I liked the presenter's enthusiasm, but she hasn't been given much to work with. 1
CDMullins 444 Posted August 6, 2023 The format was incredibly bizarre too, Showed pre-Plymouth-Hudds build up, Showed highlights of Plymouth/Hudds Then showed another couple of games Before going back for Post Plymouth/Hudds thoughts.
Canary73 160 Posted August 6, 2023 And as its ITV jammed between regular advert breaks. You can get highlights much quicker these days. If you are going to have a highlights show then you need presenters with sufficient knowledge of the teams and their style of play. It has been pretty poor whoever screens it. Remember Endsleigh/Nationwide league extra being on in the early hours of the morning? 5Live were just as bad - their football league preview show spent the first hour talking about the three relegated sites then wedged Leagues 1&2 into the remaining hour. The 'Monday Night Club' is the same. Focus on the big teams and forget everyone else. If you can't cover it properly, don't cover it all. Similarly, I doubt MOTD will have any analysis on Luton on how they played last season with all references being cliches about being newly promoted etc and not knowing anything about the players.
