ZLF 335 Posted February 17, 2006 First the club bans worthy out banners from the club on fire hazard grounds (never seemed to apply to supportive banners, fans clothes or club programmes tho!) and now I hear Andy Hughes on the radio this morning claiming the protestors are simply a small group of young kids looking to make trouble - not a word for word quote but was the meaning behind the words. Now he and the club may be disappointed that the protests are happening and disagree with their views but the protestors come from a cross section of fans and are painfully heart felt views. What the manager and his side have to do is prove us wong with actions on the pitch through cohesive positive performances and not create a divide by belittling long held season ticket holders with such tardy comments. Expressing support for the manager is fine by me and acceptable - patronising part of your fan base for an opinion is not.Raise your game city - and especially Andy Hughes. Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Well Andy Hughes is really endearing himself to the city faithful, in his words as well as his actions......

FilletTheFishWife . 0 Posted February 17, 2006 "Raise your game city - and especially Andy Hughes. ". Sadly , I don''t think he can. From a 41 year old young kid!
Oso Butch 0 Posted February 17, 2006 "...now I hear Andy Hughes on the radio this morning claiming the protestors are simply a small group of young kids looking to make trouble."I''d just like to point out to Andy Hughes that I am a man in his mid-50s who''s actively supported NCFC since 1956, and who''s only ever been ''in trouble'' once (3 points for speeding some years ago...) [:)]So, rather like his passing, he''s a bit off target with that one. Is there any truth in the rumour that each time he kicks (''passes'') the ball, he shouts: "To whom it may concern" ???) [;)] Furthermore, I''m not "looking to make trouble" - rather, I''m sorely troubled by the rubbish dressed up as football we are being served up each week. Tueday was dire - 3-0 flattered us hugely and yet it''s being described as ''biggest win of the season'' etc by Worthy.... Do me a favour! - it was against 10 men fighting for their relegation lives.... Only when they overstretched themselves did we put a couple of goals in, in the last 5 minutes - good goals, yes, but let''s not forget the circumstances.I certainly don''t boo individual players on the pitch - I don''t agree with that - but I just wish that Worthy would pick his strongest eleven - and that immediately excludes Hughes, IMO. I also wish that the Board would choose a stronger manager - but that''s another thread...
ZLF 335 Posted February 17, 2006 I am quite happy to be viewed as a kid - as my life apparently begins later this year as the saying goes...
AJ 1,359 Posted February 17, 2006 The words "desperation" and "clutching" "at" and "straws" comes to mindsounds like Andy thinks we are all on his side!
ZLF 335 Posted February 17, 2006 To be fair to hoooozey I think it was probably just badly chosen words that he had decided toput around the clubs decided upon message; If the club feel that then fair enough - but dont generalise about these things and patronise a committed fan base - turn it around on the pitch not in incessant bland press statements that are making a divide not creatig a bridge.
