Crazy Eddie 0 Posted February 9, 2006 For a self confessed pessimist I admit I seem to look on the brightside suprisingly often when it come to NCFC but please hear me out. Most are now resigned to us having no hope of promotion this season, Ijust have a feeling we are going to - as a result of the resultant easein pressure on the team - begin to see the best of the players betweennow and the end of the season starting at Hull. Like I say, it''s just afeeling I have, we''ll see at the weekend.Oh, and was anyone else pleased to learn that Worthy does in factrealise Johansson is not a target man and it looks like he intends topair Earnie with Thorne (probably therefore accomodating Johansson onthe right wing) who will help us hold the ball up better? Well, I was.
Tom NCFC 0 Posted February 9, 2006 It''s a bit of a shame Worthy can''t see the best in his players!

lucky green trainers 0 Posted February 9, 2006 we''ve certainly seen the worst from the players - where was the fightback after ipswich winner? the game ended drearily, like a casual pass about. they''d given up - when was the last time we saw this at city? it smacks of a demoralised team at best or a team not wanting to play for the manager at its worst.when the line up was announced, i was amazed thorne wasn''t starting alongside earnie, because johannson is only lightweight himself. we had the spectacle of a city free kick just inside the ipswich half being delayed until the doc lined up with the other players on the 18 yard line, because only earnie, wly & johannson was there, leaving a lofted delivery virtually pointless! Crazy Eddie 0 Posted February 9, 2006 "Not really, it just means Worthy intends to play more kick and rush tactics."Surely better if these tactics are going to be employed that there be a target man in the side than not?
Northern Canary 0 Posted February 9, 2006 yeah we might put in a few good performances but the top 6 teams wont slip up
ZLF 335 Posted February 9, 2006 We have decent footballing forwards in JJ2 and WLY and a predator in Earnie who thrives on passes not a hoofed ball - why not change our tactics and play to their strengths?Reaching for thorne is looking for the easy option and means marginalising at least two players likely to have more of an impact than Thorne - JJ2 and WLY have had far more impact in recent games than thorne has - no criticism of thorne intended but he has hardly shone with the awful long ball approach so far so why should he with earnie make such a huge difference now. But if we are to play long ball of course it makes sense to go with Thorne.
